I have recently discovered how nice red Grapefruit is and it has become a reg after main meal addition (on quarter of one) also an apple and a pear. Will this raise my Blood sugars much I test about an hour and a half to 2 hours after ?

i would assume it would raise your blood sugar as most fruits do, I say assume as due to te fat I am on statins I am no longer able to eat grapefruit. Times of testing can vary depending on what’s eaten, but personally I’d probably check after an hour but that’s definitely not a hard and fast rule , it’s very much down to the individual .

I also am on statins, Atovostatin It does not say on the box "do not eat grapefruit"

Dunno what brand you're on, but usually, statins and grapefruit aren't a good idea. It's not on the box, but it's commonly found on the leaflet though.

"Grapefruit juice
Do not take more than one or two small glasses of grapefruit juice per day because large quantities of grapefruit
juice can change the effects of atorvastatin." <-- https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.13311.pdf

"Avoid drinking large quantities of grapefruit juice.
Grapefruit juice contains one or more components that alter the metabolism of some medicines, including Atorvastatin Sandoz. Drinking very large quantities (over 1.2 litres) of grapefruit juice each day increases the chance of Atorvastatin Sandoz causing side effects. <--https://www.nps.org.au/assets/medicines/1bc91578-68c1-4cd3-ad6c-a53300ff71f6.pdf

We are all different in how we react to fruit so testing after eating your fruit will tell you how your reaction to fruit, no one else’s. I’m a keto lifestyle but I do still eat certain fruits, always as part of a meal though. I can do raspberries, strawberries, a few blueberries with cream or full fat Greek yogurt after a meal. I can eat a small amount of apple incorporated into a meal, tonight I’m planning a steak with salad & homemade Waldorf salad with about 1/4 apple, celery, walnuts & mayo. I can also have apple in a celeriac remoulade, I can eat a finger of pineapple after a meal or used in a marinade for meat or to make sweet & sour sauce. I can eat 1/4 of a small orange or a small satsuma or a not too sweet plum

What I’m trying to say is others may not be able to eat these fruits but I can & do as long as I don’t eat them in isolation & stick to my very low carb count of less than 20g carb a day, it’s all very individual and you may or may not be able to tolerate fruits, you’ll only know if you test

I agree with laying off the grapefruit if you are on statins, at least until you double check with your GP or pharmacist (I find pharmacists more knowledgeable with drug interactions)
