Does anyone know if there would be a significant difference making bread from ground almonds as opposed to almond flour?
There seems to be a big difference in price.

I’ve never used almond flour due to the cost! I’ve used ground almonds in a few low carb recipes now and they’ve all turned out well. I think the flour is finer ground.

I've used ground almonds as opposed to the flour for quite a few recipes, although I have to say I haven't made a loaf. I have made one-serving rolls and they turned out fine, as did the granola and crackery things. There certainly is a big difference in the price! I'd try it and see. I'm sure you could get away with ground almonds for most recipes calling for the flour, but there are some great chefs and bakers on the forum who may be able to clarify.

I’ve been using ground almonds instead of almond flour in recipes with success- as you say, it’s much cheaper.

I have used ground almonds for my herb crackers. Also almond flour for muffins. Sometimes I do half and half to keep the cost down.
My cookies worked with either. They were delicious. Just almond flour/ meal and butter. Hm... I forgot about those! Might have to dig that recipe out.

Thanks for all the ideas folks. I'll do a bit of experimenting.

The almond meal makes great pastry for sweet based desserts (and yes I did have a quarter with great prandial results under 6 with a meal):

I asked in the shop if there was any difference 7 the assistant said "Only the price" So I always go for Ground Almonds
Have made bread & a few other thinfs with it & no problems

The only difference I find is the ground almonds give a "grittier" texture but I don't find that a problem I always use the ground almonds because of cost

Oh you rotter! You got me salivating like the proverbial pavlovian dog.:hungry:

Must give that a try. We've got a lot of apples stored and need to start using them up.
