Are you also aware that Christopher Barr gets 4 stars (ducks) on the 'Quackometer'.......... :|

Tried to look him up on this forum and can't find anything.

That's precisely because we are careful what content we have on here.

Try Google------

That's what I'm doing. I can't find anything to debunk what he's saying. Plenty of things to say Chromium Picolinate doesn't work - well at least in lower doses and plenty about GTF / Chris Barr's assertions. Nothing to say it's been tested or dissproved.

That's just it......they are only assertions. As a Diabetic I deal in facts. There is no medical research or proof that he is correct in his assertions. As a Diabetic I also have seen many so called 'cures' etc.
Doesn't mean I need to take any notice of them.......if you believe the guy......your choice. :|

BTW, the FSA advice in 2004 regarding Chromium Picolinate is this:

The FSA advises that most people can get the chromium they need from a healthy, balanced diet. For those people who wish to supplement their diet with chromium, the maximum upper level recommended by the EVM is 10 mg a day. There is no need to avoid chromium picolinate.

The Agency bases its advice on the balance of available scientific evidence.

Me.........why take a supplement when you can get enough naturally. Maybe you should try it and let us know how you get on.......

I reversed my Diabetes by simply reducing carbohydrates in my diet......I'm not cured though, just a very well controlled Dabetic. Do whatever you think best, I do. It certainly doesn't involve listening to Mr Barr...... :)

BTW, thanks Mod 3........took the words out of my mouth. :D However, you do have to dig a lot deeper than the first result that shows......

Why should this guy be considered a quack? he is only recommending chromium, a very cheap product it doesn't seem as if he is set to gain anything from it. There are a lot of natural health practitioners who are labelled quacks simply because they are a threat to Big Pharma, chromium can't be patented so that pharmaceutical companies can make a fortune out of it. It has long been rumoured that diabetes is curable but it is being kept secret. The Codex Alimentarius is due to come in next year This legislation is a huge step in population control, giving the pharmaceuticals full control over the health of all individuals, which is what the global socialists have wanted for years.

Thanks for the heads-up on GTF Chromium - I'd never heard of it before. I'll be looking into it, though.

I'm just gonna pull up a chair and watch this one unfold...

How many posts until this one gets locked???

It seems odd that this Christopher Barr guy champions GTF Chromium for Diabetics when a list of disadvantages of taking a GTF Chromium supplement seems to suggest that diabetics should not take it :?:

Disadvantages

* Many supplements containing GTF Chromium also contain caffeine so those who are sensitive should avoid this product because adverse side effects such as nervousness and irritability may occur.
* Those taking MAOI’s, SSRI’s, antidepressants, NSAIDS, corticosteroids or certain other medications may not be able to take this product or supplements containing it.
* Those who have diabetes, hypoglycemia, high blood pressure, cardiovascular ailments or certain other medical conditions may not be able to take GTF Chromium or supplements containing it.
* Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use this product or supplements containing it.
* Studies are being conducted to test whether or not too much chromium causes cell damage.

GTF stands for Glucose Tolerance Factor.

That should make many ears prick up...

Just found thi over at carbohydrateaddicts.com:

The daily recommended supplementation of GTF is 200 micrograms. GTF usually comes as a 100 microgram tablet or as a 200 microgram tablet. Toxic levels are 10,000 times that found in a 200 microgram tablet and therefore is considered safe.

OK this is interesting, from further reading it seems that it is not suitable for diabetics due to its bg lowering qualities

"Chromium supplementation may enhance the effects of drugs for diabetes (e.g., insulin, blood sugar-lowering agents) and possibly lead to hypoglycemia. Therefore, people with diabetes taking these medications should supplement with chromium only under the supervision of a doctor."

Now I'm even more confused, should I stop taking Metformin because it can help lower my bg levels

Okay - where's the Advantages?

If you are that interested Patch.......why not do some research of your own. Mr Barr has a link on the net. GTF Chromium has links. Shouldn't be too difficult to find..........

Anyway, I thought you were going to watch this one develop......... Me too.......

Do you know something we don't ? Why would it get locked, do you have inside information ......

That's just it Sid........the majority of these supplements always add a rider, check with your GP/DR/Physician before taking. That's what everybody should do. If you are deficient....great get a supplement, prescribed or otherwise. Don't take them just because some businessman tells you it is what you should do. They have a vested interest in a) getting you to buy it, b) buy their books.
A great marketing strategy........'puff' a product, increase interest in what you say, then hit 'em with the 'cure'........only $30 a pop ! $20 for my book !

Doing that as we speak, Ken - but you know me, I'm never one to post the first thing I find... Checking out both sides of the story...

I'm very pleased to hear it........we also do our homework Patch. Much research goes into what is posted on here.......we also check out the claims thoroughly, as I think you know.

Many roads lead to dark corners....
