Hey

Starting testing in Feb and downloaded my sugr app at beginning of march

According to that app it is predicting my Hba1c is just under48

However that would indicate that my average BS level is approx 6.5 - which isn’t right

Has anyone used this app … and would the Hba1c be in any way accurate?

Thanks

These apps are never going to be accurate a lot can happen between fingersticks

Even with a cgm getting 5 minutes tests the apps will only get you in the 'right ball park' some apps slightly better than others

The most useful things with these apps is getting a trend and seeing if the number is raising or lowering

Agree with the above. CGMs test interstitial fluid rather than blood. HbA1cs don't test blood in the same way that fingerpricking does. So you're looking at the results of different tests on different things and trying to work out from incomplete data what a result in one test might indicate a result in another is going to be a few weeks later.

Fingerpricking also has acceptable levels of inaccuracy of around 15% maximum, and you can't really evaluate what happens when you're not testing. In addition, BG levels are affected by things other than carb intake - stress, illness, ambient temperature etc

I'd also advise looking at trends rather than individual results.
