So after a 66 mmol reading last year, and pulling myself together after a lapse, I had my yearly Hba1c test this week and it's come back at 42mmol/mol... other tests full blood count/urine etc normal. Only thing stands out am concerned about is LDL cholesterol was apparently 5 last year (gp stated in recent med review so kept me on simvastatin) but now it's 6.5. So am going to have to get that back down again. Due to almost a year of personal stress I did so well with the rest of it, but slipped up on this, I think it must be saturated fats caused this, have comfort ate a bit. Am now watching this but overall am happy with the results.

I went low carb and started on chia seeds with breakfast. So apart from the blip from august to feb with the fats, did really well. Thankfully the issue causing so much stress is now being dealt with.

Well - there are a fair few analyses which show that we live longer and have fewer problems when our cholesterol is higher - but the idea that cholesterol is bad is so entrenched it would be professional suicide for a HCP to start to point it out.

Agree with Resurgam re Cholesterol. There are, however, some high profile and esteemed medics who go against the mainstream brainwashing. Amongst many others, you could look at 'The Great Cholesterol Con' by Malcolm Kendrick (a GP) and anything by Aseem Malhotra (a Cardiologist). Just google them.

Hi jax21, i am in the same postion with my cholesterol, my LDL gone up since going carnivor. I am happy to have my Cholesterol a bit higher as this the best i felt in years and the information from here and the web is that its not a bad thing :)

Dr ekberg goes into great detail how it all works and is worth a watch :)

Hi thank you for your reply. I feel the best I have in a while too. And really boosted getting the 42mmol result after last year's worry. I think it's the fats with me as I rarely eat meats, just by choice I prefer vegetable dishes. But this last 9 months due to stress i've caved in a bit with too many "reds" where usually it's all "green" and or the odd "orange" labels on items. The occasional "red" being ok etc. However am not worried about this now having read the comments here, as well as yours.

Hi, this looks very interesting. Do you know if there is a way to measure the amount of SMALL LDL which are the damaged ones and whether the NHS will test this?

Interested. Watching for replies. I am Carnivore. Endocrinologist wants me to stop as my total cholesterol is 14.2! LDL 10.3 but triglycerides at ONE. Wish I could find help on NHS. Told to ask for CAC scan but not available on nhs What next? Love carnivore and feel great. I’m 68 & keto then carnivore for 3-4 years

I think I've read that the level of triglycerides are more important than cholesterol as a marker for CVD, and yours are nice and low. I think that also means that your number of small dense LDL (the damaging ones) would be less too.

Thank for replying. I was getting really worried even though I’ve researched ‘too doctors’ like Dr Chiffee Dr Clywes Dr Ken Berry. Thought that perhaps my GDL needed to be higher along with the Triglycerides being low! So much to take in eh. Many thanks

Thank you. I’ve watched it and yes it was helpful. I’m not worrying. As long as my triglycerides are very low I’m ok with it and also with Dr Berry’s explanations. Next is to double check his ‘things to worry about’ list.
