Healthiest ways to avoid (rather than treat) lows.

With cgms you can often tell in advance that you are going to need some glucose otherwise you are going to go low.

What are some healthy snacks you can take to avoid this?

This may be slightly different from treating actual lows which you want to act as soon as possible, but I'm OK with something that may take 15 or 30 minutes to work.

Bonus points if the snack is portable, i.e. can be carried in a trouser pocket, and also can be split.

Orange juice seems to work for me, but isn't easily portable.
A mandarin can fit in a pocket, but can't really be split and put back.

I'm trying to reduce the number of jelly babies and glucose tablets that I am taking.

Any suggestions?

What an excellent question. I've put the thread on watch. Haven't tried it, but am seriously wondering about grapes.... Apples are just too large.

Absolutely agree with trying to do this gently rather than crashing out on glucose later one, I use the CGM to this benefit too if I can catch it in time, however I will probably have a piece of fruit rather than processed food for balancing BG levels, so an apple which is around 6-8g of carb for me is a great one for getting my 1 in 5 in each day if heading south. Not sure about a small apple in your trouser pocket though, lots of snack/protein bars are around 10g of carb and much easier to transport in a pocket though.

At the risk of cross posting as aT2 diet only, way back when I was on max dose Gliclizide 4 -5 grapes would pull me out of a hypo. Now I’m diet only I avoid them but I’ve heard them called many times little sugar bombs
