Help..Getting bored with veg and dairy

Well - eating foods which contain a lot of carbs is going to be the chief suspect - but the food, how it is prepared, the exercise you have done, if you ate recently or fasted and the carb content of your last meal - they all affect the numbers you would see on the meter before eating and two hours later

Thanks for that I was getting suicidal after reading the above posts.

I struggle with a quick snack. I don't always want cheese ,nuts berries. I quite often don't bother with lunch as I am fed up with salads, eggs, so I skip lunch three or four times. A week because I feel it gives me more choice for dinner. Has anybody heard of the website sugarlite. Co. Uk? They have sugar and carb free and low foods on there, quite expensive but if only for one person the products will last longer. Worth a look

You ask @phonic2k for proof of his claims, yet your claims are based on pro-carnist anecdotes. Just saying.
NO. This is grossly untrue, as you should know from the various threads posted on this site. There are multiple independent trial studies reported in those threads, that support what @bulkbiker is claiming, but the same most definitely does not hold for the WFPB claims being made here. I would put my trust in several peer reviewed RCT trials held in formal public archive over a Youtube video or Forks over Knives which are most certainly NOT independent of their proponents.

The OP is saying that they are becoming bored with the same thing over and over again in their diet. WFPB will restrict their choice even more, so how will this help them? IMHO WFPB is one of the most restrictive diets I have come across.

This is NOT a vegan vs animal murderer argument, it is a dislike of certain marketing strategies being aimed at a group of people for whom the product is IMO inappropriate. When someone has the ability to post some proper research findings so that we can validate the claims being made, then we might have sensible discussion. I tried to find this evidence, but have so far found Zilch

I'd love to know which low carb fruits you find you can eat, and how many carbs a day you allow yourself. I am struggling to find a way to lower my bg without sacrificing almost all fruit, which is the food I love the most and find the most convenient.

I am fine with carrots providing they are the only carbs in the meal. I couldn't have them with peas or beans for example.
I have been doing this also..I will have broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower, meat

Could you describe how you used exercise? Or maybe you have explained elsewhere? I'm very interested.

I have various frozen mixtures of fruits, I look for those lowest in carbs, and I eat them with cream, I also eat strawberries and grapes, but always in small amounts and normally as dessert after my evening meal. I do get melons from time to time but I find it difficult to eat small amounts of them. My maximum carbs on a normal day would be under 60 gm.

Thanks. When you say, "exercising 1 hour after eating" do you mean during the first hour after eating or to wait one hour after eating and then exercise?

Exercise 1 hour after finishing eating, as that is normally around your peak blood glucose and ideal time exercise.

Also, any time you notice your blood is high, you can use exercise to lower it.
I wondered about exercising straight after eating in order to prevent some of the rise? Though it's jolly hard to leap up from one's dinner and straight out. Alternatively, isn't there a risk that exercising when one's bg is high might just raise it further???

I think perhaps we have in mind rather different levels of exercise! I wouldn't try to do my interval or weight training straight after a meal, but I had more in mind a recommended 10-15minute walk.

In a word ...yes... I do get bored with cauliflower and celeriac as a substitute for real potatoes there is no substitute for real potato mash on cottage or fish pies for me and I miss baked jacket ones Although I was never a big bread eater I still miss being able to have a lovely French stick or a nice roll when I fancy it...I hate the Lidl rolls ... I do eat things like couscous lentils and barley sometimes but I have never liked rice

Was your reply for me? Only I do not eat high Carbs only 20 grams of carbs a day

One it seems to be the only way that I can lose weight and for the first time in years, I have lost weight. It seems even when I eat a few Carbs, rice, bread, potatoes etc I cannot lose any weight. 2 I am worried about becoming diabetic. Many on here who are pre-diabetic have chosen a very low carb diet. Wondering if I ate a potato or had some rice whether my sugar will go up, but I know it would cause me to gain weight

20g is not low carb but a ketogenic diet. I've never done that, due to the health risks,
What health risks do you think there may be in a ketogenic diet please?
Because you've been lower than 120g per day, your after meal blood sugars will go up higher than it would have before
Really? mine don't why would you think that?
So don't go and do a OGTT or the result will be much higher.
I did one last week while still on a keto way of eating and would have "passed" as normal.

Your statements all sound very assured.. are you so sure you are correct in everything you say?

@bulkbiker I've just seen this thread.
My IR has dramatically improved since I've reduced my fat. Saturated fat the most. I'm not hugely low-fat but don't buy cheese, cream or nuts anymore. I rely on a low carb pizza occasionally and nutty treats every other month, money allowing.
I've been told by diabetic unit my insulin is in keeping with the norm and my hba1c is now at last 48 and lowering.
This is all months before my bariatric surgery date.
I'm losing on average 2lb per week.
I was shocked at my hba1c but knew something good when weight loss is consistant and using dramatically less insulin to control my 4s 5s and 6s. Something just changed. Fat removal is only dietary change. Mostly chicken skin, bacon rind, cheese, nuts and cream no longer eaten.
Have you tried reducing yours to see if any weight loss?

Mine does.

Could it not be just the fact, everyone is different?
The human body is a science but not all male bodies work the same. Women's neither.
I respect specialists but even dr bernstein didnt know everything and agrees he's still learning. As us all.
