Help needed for RH.

It's now been over two years since I had a chip buttie.
I never believed that I would have said that!
I didn't know the reason why beer was so bad for me!
As well as no ciggies!

What have I got to live for?

Ha!

Yet, without them, I've never felt better! Go figure!

4.1 before porridge
6.2 one hour after porridge
is that ok or not

Yes, that is ok!
Test again on two hours, to see how you are doing. If it is higher than your one hour reading, then that porridge is no good. It can be higher, because of slow digestion.

But, but, but, we really shouldn't be going as high as 7.0. As we need to stay close to normal as possible.
If we raise our blood glucose levels too quickly, that is the trigger for hypo later.
Hope I'm not confusing you.

no no thats fine im having porridge for brekkie so will do a test before them one hr then two hr

As far as I can see that's ok.
You may have spiked very quickly, hence the hour reading being lower than your pre meal one. The two hour reading is fine.

I'm wondering two things, when do you start to go hypo?
And does your blood glucose level keep increasing until you go down a bit later?
If somebody didn't know better and you had a two hour glucose test, they would say you were normal. But, of course you go hypo, hence the diagnosis.

Still can't get my head around that porridge is ok for you (I think!)

hi ya
ive eaten porridge since i had my bypass which is nearly four years ago
obviousley eating every two hrs now instead of three and eating protein only and only drinking half an hr before i eat seems to be working

yep, that seems ok!
Maybe having very small meals with what you can tolerate works well.
I know it does for me.
Let us know how you are doing.
Best wishes.

Hi tooner,
Hope your kidney tests are good or a protein only diet could be a problem.
I see you are a sausage man! I would look at the ingredients...they are far from all protein they contain carbs and fats, depending on the quality.

I'm like Nosher, I had to stop eating porridge it caused horrible spikes and subsequent lows.
regards
Derek

I would never entertain a gastric bypass reversal

I thought you were post bypass surgery?
What seems to be the problem? I'm figuring out, unless you know you keep eating stuff that will only make you worse!
We will help you!

That's good! Are you getting your blood levels ok?
