Hi all

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the insurance for 2 reasons - I have none at the moment, and I live in the US.
 
Yes NHS is free but feel the waiting time these days are getting longer so if I could go private and have insurance when I travel overseas

Health insurance is very expensive, my in-laws are in Bupa and pay £1000+ a month for two people in their early 70’s no serious illness or diabetes, plus each time they see a doctor they have to pay like £250 for the consultation.

Travel insurance just cost me just over £500 for a annual policy including USA but I do have quite a few other things as well as diabetes.
 
Travel insurance shouldn't be a problem, as long as you notify your provider of your diagnosis. They may then up the premium a bit, but you can always hunt around for comparative quotes.
Our annual policy comes as part of our Bank account, and they didn't increase my premium at all, but I do control it well with just diet and no medication

As others have said, travel insurance shouldn't be too much of an issue, though you will need to declare your diabetes. If you have multiple health conditions and companies are being difficult to cover you then I've used goodtogoinsurance for my UK T2 dad when he was in his 80s and had a lot of health conditions - they just up the premium to take account of any conditions you have. (It was expensive though, but he was in his late 80s and travelling to the Antipodes for 3 months).
 
I know being new you first need to be clear but I am facing an issue.
