Diabetes... woke up this morning 16.5, took 30 from the pen (tbh I dont know how much that is in ml) so took a test again just now... 15.6. *** is going on?? so I just took 25 from the pen again, can someone clue me up as to why its not going down???? thanks, meant to be type 2, seems I could be type 1 if this is happening

Doesn't necessarily mean T1, it could be that you're becoming insulin resistant which is more of a T2 thing to be honest. Is the insulin good ? Has this happened before ? I would not advise just upping the dose though as if it does kick in it could lead to a dangerous hypo. Mo

tbh, I took my wife's insulin (I know I shouldn't) but I have tablets (for type 2) but I am maxed out on them and cant take any more, but because I was so high (16.5) that I needed to take it down, thats why I took her insulin

VERY BAD IDEA!!!!!!! Don't self-medicate like this, whatever you do. Check your blood sugars carefully over the next few hours to make sure that you're not plummeting. And in the meantime book an appointment with your GP. And update your profile giving details of your medication. And let us know how you try to regulate with diet and exercise.

Have updated my meds on my profile, thanks everyone for the advice

Hi -- not much more you can do when it comes to meds, and moving to insulin won't be great for your LGV license. So worth looking if there's any flexibility when it comes to diet and exercise. Are you overweight? What's your diet like? Can you find ways of building exercise into your day? Exercise is one of the safest ways of bringing down BGs, and it;'s free too!

I am overweight dont know what my BMI is, I eat (mostly) a good diet, can do with extra exercise (cant we all?) yea I am worried for my LGV License for sure, thats why I dont want to get as far as type 1, I suppose its a matter of trying to get some exercise in to my week, and help myself bring it down more

Tony, a poorly controlled T2 doesn't lead to a T1. Exercise has many benefits, not just lowering BG levels. Hope you manage to find time as it will help. Also, even if you do go onto insulin, you can still keep your LGV license although you need to prove good control.

Tony what is your wife's insulin ? It should be labelled .
Can you let us know if it was basal or bolus you have used .
Are you aware of how many units you have taken?

If you have used bolus - you may need A&E as bolus kicks in far faster than basal .
Basal can be balanced and corrected easier using food .
Bolus can induce a hypo, needing glucose and you are going out walking!

Let us know how things go please .
