Hey guys. I've never had a full night sleep in aprox 2 years I use my on pee every 20-30 mins which is mega bad for organs my hc1 came back today at 98 which is the best it's been in them 2 years so had a little smile altho this is aprox 15? I can't get use to the dietary requirements as love take aways in like to snack what is the best fruit to have on its own to snack?? Tia rob

Hi. Those figures are not good. What insulin regime are you on? It sounds like you really do need to control the carbs and for snacks just have berries, cheese or nuts. For fruit berries are good and so are apples or similar. Avoid any tropical fruit

Have you only been diabetic for 2 years or is it the last 2 years your control has gone a bit haywire?
Depending on what insulin regime you are on you can snack/have takeaways etc if you count carbs and give insulin for them? Do you test your bg often?

Raspberries & strawberries don't alter my bg personally as they have minimal carbs but I can also tolerate a small apple and a few other fruits but some others find they need to give insulin as it will raise bg, we are all different, testing before & after will tell you how you react :)

Hi :) Do you count carbs and adjust your insulin to match?

Can you give us an idea of an average day's food for you, and what your blood sugars are on a day like that?

Awaiting dietician so no dont count carbs atm but all sugared drinks have stopped mainly on flavoured water. Still have white toast, now on semi skimmed milk and not whole always add extra units in advanced if kmow having something carby or sweet

Push to be taught carb counting @type1westall It's crucial for control.

It's not hard - I was taught very quickly by a dietician on diagnosis. There are also some online courses you can do.

Failing that, you can simply eat the same meal for a few days, and see what amount of mealtime insulin works for it.

Why wait for bad news to make changes when making the changes now would avoid (possibly) bad news??

I can tell you from my experience bad news whether from diabetes complications or other critical illnesses screws your life up.

You say you're on the go all the time.. I used to be.. And the vast majority of places I go now is hospital appointments.

Please get to grips now... If you think you've got a good quality life now why risk it getting bad??
