Hi Smiley

Welcome to the forum.

It would probably help people respond more constructively, if you told us a bit more about yourself:
- are you t2 or t1?
- what medication do you take for diabetes?
- what levels are you blood glucose counts usually
- do you self test, how often
- what is a typical day's diet for you
- any other medical conditions you would like to disclose,

Once again welcome

Pavlos

Hi and welcome. Yes, steroids are a real problem as they can cause diabetes or make it worse. As far as I know the usual solutions need to apply i.e. low-carb diet, tablets and possibly insulin but I understand once steroids are stopped the diabetes should fade away to leave you how you were before. Are you overweight? Steroids can cause weight gain which, if so, will need serious reduction in carbs and portion sizes; not ideal. Let us have more info.

Hi Smiley and welcome
Prednisolone and any other steroid will always raise your BG levels. I have rheumatoid arthritis and am on a heavy drug therapy to try to control this, one of which is prednisolone.
I wish you well but don't get too hung up - due to external influences we can only achieve what we can achieve. We cannot do without the prednisolone.

Hello there !!! Im gill only joined today but am too on steroids which has given me diabetes. I was diagnosed August last year after undergoing a liver transplant for the autoimmune disease primary biliary cirrhosis. Ive just about got it under control and try not to eat between meals n hardly any carbs just baby portions of potatoes n no bread. I still have sweet treats butstraight after main meals and after insulin. My bg goes very high if im inactive so I try and keep moving. obviously im not yet six months post transplant so im not going to the gym or anything just pottering about ( not sitting for long periods of time). I get awful tingling type sensation in my face and lips not sure if its steroids or diabetes! Youre not on your own.......
