I had a greek salad of plum tomatoes, salad leaves, feta cheese and black olives. Never eaten it before ... and when I tested after an hour and a quarter (eary with it being a new food) I had gone up to 8 !!! I thought salads were okay? Does anyone else have an idea why my bg levels spiked?
What was your bg before you started eating?? Hard to know if it’s truly a spike if you don’t know where your starting from.
Could have been a rogue reading, try again. There is also the chance that you had just had a liver dump which would add to the bg. I test the same meal three times before deciding if it goes on my 'safe' list. P.S. Also there is the possibility that your hands may have been contaminated especially if you had been handling the tomatoes.
Oh I forgot to say. It was 5,8 beforehand. I am going to retest at 6.15 as it will be two hours then.
I agree with @Guzzler. I would also add that tomatoes can be a problem for some and also maybe add some protein and or fat and it would help.
Sorry, I need to clarify. I meant that I test a meal on three separate occasions not that I test three times after the single meal.
sachets and Lemon (!!!), this might be the reason, fresh Lemon even a couple of drops may affect some people significantly, anything artificial as substitute in the sachets for lemon might also affect even that their carbs may seem small.
