High Fat Diets - May Cause Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Hey! What happened to the picture of the mice drinking milk in Borofergie's post? It was there yesterday, today it's just a cross.

They died of bowel cancer. Don't be so bloody insensitive!

The photos are from a temple in India, apparently:

Can only speak from my experience but until this year I always followed the whole 'All fats are the devils urine' advice but it didn't prevent me developing crohns disease in my teens,Bowel cancer aged 34 and diabetes aged 35.I also had a total cholesteral of 5.2 when i was on a/ low fat/high wholegrain diet and now I've thrown all the low fat **** out for natural foods and animal fats my total cholesteral is now 3.5 and I feel much better so i know what side my breads buttered.

It's interesting you say that Paul as I have a family member with UC, the dietary advice given is to limit fatty foods in the diet and avoid them altogether when in a flare-up :o
I personally feel so sick and ill when I have a flare up that I can't eat anything at ALL and lose lots of weight quickly but when my symptoms are in remission, like they are now,LCHF has been fine so far with that side of things. :)

I can hear the roar go up now saying "just another mouse study" but this makes perfect sense to me as we know that fat in the gut slows down stomach emptying. Food for thought for high fat eaters perhaps.

Extract: "The researchers said the high-fat diet changed the way food was digested and encouraged harmful bacteria."
I thought mice were keen on cheese - should we just put down lots of cheese in dishes rather than traps? We would soon make the whole mouse population unhealthy & solve the problem for ever!

Its actually a fallacy that mice like cheese brought about I suspect by cartoon mice like Jerry in Tom & Jerry, in fact the best stuff to bait a mouse trap with is peanut butter or chocolate they love all sweet fat things, just like us really :D

Perhaps they anticipate the results of this cited study .....

I am aware of your point - I use peanut butter. But I set a rat trap in the garden, carefully covered to prevent other creatures getter trapped. Next morning a robin had got in. :(

Try setting the trap in a section of drain pipe that may help stop birds and any local cats from getting caught

i used to have 2 pet rats, japenese hooded rattus rattus, and they would eat anything. they were especially fond of junk food (popcorn chicken from kfc being a firm favourite) and the odd drop of wine :D

We had a nightmare with mice in our loft and tried everything on the traps until someone mentioned peanut butter, I can't recommend it enough whilst using cheese we caught zero!
