Well we got back from Goa on Monday morning, it's bl**dy freezing here after 90 degree heat so just getting used to it again.
When we arrived in Goa we reset Lily's basal profile to no. 2 to allow for the heat and she was fine for the first few days with good numbers on the whole, but then we started to get some high ones and had to increase her basals. Her boluses were a nightmare and nowhere near what they are at home. We also found that she didn't need the pump on when we were on the beach as the heat and running around in the sea etc seemed to replace the insulin that she missed.
We forgot to take our carbs and cals book DOH! so everything was guess work but we did OK mostly, the highest she went was 13 and she had a couple of minor hypos of 3.5 and 3.2 but she has very good awareness and told us straight away. One time we were out for tea and she was hypo and we forgot to take her glucose tablets so we just gave her a spoonfull of sugar and she came back up nicely.

We had a hospital appointment yesterday and her HbA1c was 6.9 so we were dead chuffed after the ups and downs of the holiday. :D

Back to the routine now.

Hi,

Apart from minor hiccups sounds like it went really well, your bound to have ups and downs when adjusting to being in a much hotter place. Seems like she could just enjoy her holiday and run around like a looney which is the most important thing :)

And congrats on the great HBA1c. Hard work does certainly pay off :)
