My gp just said low carb but how do I know what a carb is? Pasta bread I know….
Hi
@Talya2022
Welcome to the forum.
I notice you are type one.
I'm type 2 so my experience is slightly different.
As T2D, I try not to eat too many carbs, but I know some type 1's are happy to eat more & inject to correct for any excess .
So from that perspective...
@Rachox gives the most useful link in her post, that I found helped me the most.
Very naive about what I could eat regarding carbs.
The diet doctor visual pointed me to many foods I'd never heard of and away from many that had been old friends for a loooong time.
@Lobsang Tsultim makes a great point about packet information.
At the stores, it's time consuming, but if you want to know carb levels in individual items, you'll soon get used to doing something similar.
And usually the time spent in stores reduces as you begin to become more familiar with what foods are low carb and you can then ignore lots of the food aisles..cereal particularly.
Good luck on your journey.
