How long until I’m healthy!

We wi never.know.I believe.she is on a pump but cannot be sure maybe.you can control things a bit easier but.I do admire her for the way she does adjust.

No, she is not on a pump. She injects every time she eats. Possibly at other times as well. She has a Freestyle Libre so this makes it easier for her to control her blood sugars. I imagine most of us have seen what stress does to our levels, and her stress levels must be stratospheric.

I was only diagnosed in April and was all over the place at first. I saw my DN and a dietician a week later and it all started to improve. I’m nowhere near an expert BUT it has gotten easier everyday and I’m doing better now.
I don’t get on here much but I always seen nothing but positivity and support on here and it’s been significant in my dealing with this new diagnosis. I’ve read some brilliant posts that sometimes are just what I’ve needed from people who are further down the road with this than us. Lean on people, ask questions and I promise you’ll get there xxxx

You are an expert! you are the best expert there is for YOUR condition - doesn't matter if you've only just started to manage it or have been 'living the dream' (oh I do wish it was a dream and I wake up soon!) for aeons there really is only 1 expert that knows all your ins and outs and little idiosyncrasies.

Yes there's medical experts, make use of them, use their knowledge and experiences to help you.

Have a chat with your doctor about your Levemir - for about 8 years, I was only on one dose of Levemir at night-time. The problem is that Levemir has an action time of around 12-16 hours, so by the late-afternoon/early-evening of the next day, it will be running out.

Last year, I split my Levemir dose, taking half in the morning and half in the evening, and that means that I have a more steady source of background insulin. Perhaps talk to your diabetes nurse/consultant about trying this? Obviously, only do it with their go-ahead.

Carb-counting is tough. Have you been told about DAFNE? I'm still on the waiting list for it, but I've been able to carb-count with the advice of my diabetes nurse. Perhaps it's worth getting in touch with yours to have a chat about what it means? It involves a lot of tweaking and patience, unfortunately. People tend to start off taking 1 unit of insulin for every 10g of carbohydrate (i.e. 1:10), but that varies by person and even by time of day. It's really worthwhile having a chat with your specialists about how to go about doing it.

Re: putting on weight. The main priority is getting your BGs into a normal range; don't worry about putting weight on right now. When you eat a sensible diet and take the right amount of insulin to cover it, there's no reason why you should put weight on.

If I ever get to go to the beach again I want to go wherever your avatar picture is. :) It would be so wonderful to stay in a lodging that is that close to the ocean and not 25 stories tall or blocked by dunes.

There are always the beaches of Adelaide, although they do get crowded !
