I often read in multiple topics that "normal" self-treated hypos leave people feeling tired, or drained (and even result in them putting themselves to bed). It's not something that I can say that I've ever noticed so I thought it would be interesting to find out how many people were frequently affected by this phenomenon following hypos.

Normal hypos are fine but when my blood sugar drops very quickly I sometimes feel tired. The severe hypos - the heart-pounding sweaty ones used to leave me exhausted sometimes. I don't really have those any more on my pump.

I think it depends on what you're doing and how quickly the blood sugar drops. When I was pregnant, I had some days when I struggled to keep my blood sugar up, and that did make me feel drained because I felt I had no energy. I didn't feel too badly affected though, so I've still voted 'almost never' here.

Not noticed it myself, either. I've always felt fine once my BS is back up.

Since low carbing I don't really get hypo's any more...and to date I've not ever had one yet that I couldn't cope with myself. Generally speaking...after most hypo's I'm fine...but maybe about once a year...or probably less..I will have a really bad hypo where blood sugars drop really quickly and unexpectedly...these usually leave me feeling utterly drained and bring on something I would call a hypo headache...which I would liken to the symptoms of a migraine...despite not being a migraine sufferer or even a head achy kind of person

I dont really find daytime hypos that bad to deal with as long as I can be left to get on with dealing with it myself without others making a fuss, although of course, its only natural for people to be concerned.

Ive not cast a vote as I'm not sure what to tick.

I've had a few that essentially knock me out for a few hours or until I next eat, I literally can't do anything other than just lie in bed.

When I was first diagnosed and for a few years after hypo's could wash me out for the proceeding hours, however I was on mixed insulin back then and not had this happen in more recent times, I've never had a hypo where I've needed assistance and have always been able to manage them myself, tend to pick up on the hypo's symptoms early on despite having had type 1 for 33 years.

edit, none of the options in the poll are applicable.

I'm not voting, as I'm not T1 or having hypos now, I'm in ketosis.
I wouldn't want to put myself through that kind of hell under most circumstances.
Can't believe that anyone would want to!
The last one I had was on my last OGTT. And it floored me after and most of the day after!
When I was unaware of living in hypo hell because of no hypo awareness, I just trudged on with my life. It was horrible!

Not noticed it myself, either. I've always felt fine once my BS is back up.

Same here pinewood. (Only when I have been quite ill with certain things over the past 3 years, that it has been bad) but as the thread asks, I just wait a little, then up and go.

I hadn't had any hypos for a few weeks as i've been struggling to get my BG down, but yesterday I managed to have 2 in one day, my first was ok, just some glucose and bounced back but after my second which registered at 2.2 but I think I was falling after this. I had the shakes, sweats, disorientation and felt completely drained I couldn't do much afterwards and had to have a lie down.

I've just had one now and 2 jelly babies and was fine! It's just when I get one of those 'going up the stairs and coming down in the elevator' experiences which knocks me off my feet but fortunately those don't happen too often !

to be honest i always feel **** after a hypo and during one (obviously) but i feel like it's never a 5 minute hypo type thing that can be treated as i am affected by it every time afterwards, especially if i over treat by accident. like i always feel really exhausted and drained after one. but i've never passed out or had someone else force sugar in to me! even at a bg level of 1.1!
