Hunger Pangs

I thought i was eating till full (isn't it meant to be sated? or is there even a difference). It's hard to tell, tobh!

I've just had a couple of tablespoons of cream and I think I feel better. Perhaps it is a fat thing. It's weird, it's hard to tell you're not getting enough fat when crunching the numbers.

However cream does have carbs and lactose so I need to be careful how much of that I eat.

I'm going to fry some cooked chicken meat in coconut oil for dinner. That sounds promising. I hope.

Have a 100g bag of roasted salted macadamia nuts... 745 calories 75g of fat that puts you comfortably in your calorie and fat bracket and has only 6g of carbs..

My goal is to sort out BS, but i would like the weight loss as well. I think that is happening, but this hunger thing is insane. I'm getting pangs now, not 2 hours after eating a 160g beef burger, fried in butter, with spinach, cucumber and a mushroom. What am I doing wrong there? I thought i'd have a heart attack just looking at the pan! According to MFP i'm at 1100kcals. I need another 5-600 for the day to hit the macro. Frying more food in butter for dinner will help, but even this doesn't seem to sort my gut out. Why is this happening now?

How do you cook fat out of food? How then do you cook up a nice fatty meal like that without doing this?

What element of your blood sugar are you looking to sort out? Do you mean you're concerned about that one off high reading you had when you had just joined here?

I don't think anyone knows.
I'm having a hungry day today and thinking of a lovely wedge of Wensleydale cheese with cranberries I have in the fridge and thinking of cutting myself a slice. I woke up this morning not feeling hungry and decided this was a 'fast until supper' day. Seems not, big chunk of yummy fatty cheese coming right up.

Forget about calories they dont work with LCHF/Keto diet just eat until full. I eat once a day and fast in-between and do not get hungry.

what do you mean calories don't work?

How do i know what fills me up? I can eat a meal that fills me up and be hungry a couple of hours later, apparenlty that's not enough fat. Possibly.

I've eaten a pork belly slice, a slice of bacon, an avocado, a portion of kale and 40g or so salmon, with some EVOO and basil. I didn't feel sated. Is that a breakfast thing? How do i know how much fat to add? I ate a piece of cheese and a couple of tablespoons of cream afterwards to take the edge off, but clearly my keto breakfast isn't keto enough!

Did you manage to get an appointment with a GP to discuss Post Prandial hypotension and other possible causes of your symptoms?
no, i have an endocrinology appointment at the end of May.

What I would like to know is why, after two hours, a fatty breakfast isn't keeping me sated anymore.

Did the same breakfast keep you sated before - ie a few weeks ago?

There are many reasons for hunger. Some people can happily go all day without food, others can't. Not through any fault in them or weakness - we're all different.

Keto isn't a magic answer and it doesn't suit everyone. As has been said before, you need to,find a diet that suits you, not worry what other people are doing.

And if you're hungry after two hours, why not just eat a snack of your choice? Just because other people can go all day without eating doesn't mean we all can :)

When i first started a meal of 2 sausages 2 rashers of bacon and kale and an avocado kept me going till about 1pm. I thought that was good. Now i'm hungrier quicker, and the hunger's a bujt more intense too.

We are all different, of course, but keto supposedly suppresses hunger naturally while using fat to fill you up for longer with better energy.

And that exact same meal doesn't work in the same way now?

This week i replaced the sausages with a pork belly slice and added salmon instead of bacon, using EVOO to add fat.

Not the exact same meal, but more fat I think.

I wouldn't have thought it mattered, quite honestly.

Lunch was two tesco chicken thighs, which are meant to have 17g fat and 17g protein in, fried in 30g butter, plus spinach and cabbage. I poured the remaining juice from the pan onto the veg. Surely that's fatty and filling? But my body isn't sure and i don't even feel full. Perhaps tesco got their measurements wrong, but even so that's at least 24g fat from the butter alone. How much is enough per meal?

Maybe i have parasites worms or candida or something

I like logic. Eat the same breakfast and see if you're hungry :) That's what I'd do.

perhaps i should, not sure i can till next shopping day. But honestly, it ought not matter. Unless my packaging is lying to me. Two chicken thighs plus 30g butter is nearly 60g fat! If that's not filling me up then what on earth is happening? I'm assuming tesco list their products reasonably accurately.

Besides i wanted to eat better quality meat than sausages, which is basically offal (it could be anything tesco desire to include).

That wouldn't fill me up either. I might be petite but I have a big appetite.

Remember, we're not machines. It's not a case of doing X and getting the result Y. You need to take into account your individual body. I suggest you work on finding meals that do fill you up more, and then choose from those. Broaden your outlook - maybe low carb soup, along with your meat/fat? Maybe a low carb salad?

Also, why not,try some no carb snacks and/or hot drinks? I find snacks help a lot. They don't have to be massive or carby.

Breakfast is always the hardest meal to get right. I need pretty much a fat only meal. No carbs and low protein or I'll get hungry.

Might try just the avocado and one sausage or one slice of bacon. Or just the avocado.

Protein raises insulin and the fat impedes it so there might be an imbalance between blood sugar and insulin. Like your protein is raising your insulin levels but the fat is slowing the insulin. Are you just hungry or do you feel 'off' like unbalanced? If I don't get my macros right I feel unbalanced, like something is missing even though I know I ate enough that should hold me for hours. I have to have a fat heavy small bf and get most of my other foods in later in the day. Again, mornings and breakfast can be tricky. Different foods at different times of day make a difference.

I feel your pain. I spent 50 years always hungry until I found my avocado bf. I'm not saying it will work for you but might be worth a try.

I don't know what I could try.

Are you saying that my lunch, as described, wouldn't have satisfied? I count almost 60g fat! :O
