moved to my Home-State, so happy to be back and have my much-loved 4 Seasons again. Did not like the almost constant, icy winds off the ocean, and lack of shopping options (groceries and other). Did a lot of shopping online and finally gave up on any clothes shopping ;)
I've been following a low carb diet since basically Jan. 20, 2021, but really got with it, after another lab that showed an even higher HbA1C number between than and today. My first showed a 7.0 when I was told that put me right into Type 2, and the second HbA1C was at 7.4. I took meds for a few days but just couldn't do them, so I really started paying close attention to staying under 50g or carbs, and even lower, like 21g, or under 30g, 40, just trying it out.

Today my HbA1c was 6.2 mg/dl!! I do exercise/walk regularly as well, and have lost 12 lbs. I'm so excited to talk to my doctor after all the labs are in from today but all I got so far was my hbA1c, and anxious to see if cholesterol is better as well. I'm not worried about my cholesterol but my doctor does. I just read a lot about it and have other, alternative beliefs about that, whole picture.

Excellent news. You carry on.

Well done.

Just a word of warning about cholesterol, it often bumps up a little when actively losing weight. But ends up with much better ratios and the good parts higher once stable. Totals are worthless. Have a good deep dive into the subject before agreeing to statins so you are fully informed. Lots of resources on here to help if you need them.

Congratulations Denise. Great result

Great work! My doctor also mentioned that low carbers typically have high cholesterol, mine came in normal, so it’s not always the case. Cheers!

Hi @HSSS , I didn't go into the cholesterol because I felt it was a separate topic, although I believe it is "very" connected. I am looking forward to seeing if all I've read about it is true for me. I should have those labs in soon, and will share how I did with those numbers ;)

you might want to update your signature...that feels a very special moment of pride
I will change it, just so folks know about the changes that can happen. I actually feel very humbled to have been so fortunate to find the help I needed from many people, here, videos, and articles. I am grateful to have what I believe is a good man for my MD. He has made his suggestions, but he also was easy going about me trying some things he hadn't told me to do. He is open-minded I should say, but I don't "tell" him what I'm going to do, I ask what he thinks about me trying.

I'm just really grateful :)

Warmest congratulations! Your hard work is paying off!
Someone told me here on this forum that they didn't feel there was an option, and honestly, being as sick with withdrawals, keto flu whatever anyone wants to call it, I felt I had no choice either. I don't want to live forever, I just want my time left to be able to feel as good as possible. All the people telling me what happened for them, made me want that too. I know this is just the beginning, so I'll keep reading, and learning more :)

Congratulations Denise. Great result
Thank you Muzza,

I was sure hoping, and even though my numbers from daily testing were all in the lower ranges I still was amazed at the labs ;)

I may have been in the pre-diabetic range for years (read a bit about that as well) because I had high-cholesterol counts before, like within 20 years ago. I didn't take the statins then, just did some things like eat a lot of oatmeal for breakfast, and I can't remember what else I found back then ;)

Cheers to you as well!!

Decided to join the forum as my score went from 58 to 116 in 5 months. Had been trying to lose weight but covid put paid to that. Have now agreed to take dapagliflozin and statins. Not happy about taking drugs. Any advice welcome.
