So I CAN eat bread, potatoes, rice, pastry, pasta after all.
Sorry, TuTusweet, but DUK are NOT a good source of info for T2s.So what is wonderful? I've found the recipe pages on the Diabetes UK website. YIPPEE !!
So I CAN eat bread, potatoes, rice, pastry, pasta after all. Why do so many websites in the UK and USA try to scare the hell out of me? I began to fear even picking up a loaf of white bread in a shop in case I go blind or my feet fall off.
I feel manipulated and lied to by the gigantic international Diabetes industry.
From my GP to almost everything I've read in the last 18 days it all seems to me to get shakier and shakier, less scientific, more guesswork, more voodoo science more alarmist and more money grubbing to sell me test strips and approved foods. Bah Humbug.
TuTusweet said:Can I clarify who manipulated me ?
Of course not !!
I've googled diets for diabetes and got offered 104,000,000 hits. I've spent about 2 hours a night reading ,reading, reading to try to find out all I can. Just about everything anyone firmly states on their website is contradicted within ten minutes on another website.
One site told me parsnips and carrots were shockers and must be avoided--with ten minutes I was reading how wonderful they are because of their fibre. Make up your stupid minds !!!
If you don't like manipulated try messed about ---and it is not just well meaning amateurs.
My HA1C was 7.4 %. My GP drew a circle round it to emphasise it. The local hospital lab has a top limit of 6%
The US Dept of health says try to keep it below 7 and see your doctor if over 8. My local hospital uses American equipment so I assume (dangerous) they are speaking the same language.
American sites do seem product orientated. Which I instinctively resist. It seems to me every single person has a pancreas which works differently and will finally pack up one day because of its "sell by" date. Hopefully the sell by date on mine is five years after I'm dead. Of something else.
If you are expecting me to name sites (what !!!! after the hundreds I've looked at ?) that is completely missing the point --it is the general drift of the contradictory information that messes me about that annoys me. Are Parsnips good or bad ?
I'm off now. I certainly don't want an argument and need to find info tonight on alcohol ---because one thing is certain. At Christmas I shall damage a few bottles of Merlot and totally destroy some M&S mince pies. To hell with it.
Many many thanks for all your responses.
