Hey! First post on this site, woot woot. Does anyone ever experience, when dosing, that some of the insulin squirts back out of the injection site? If so, what are the best ways to avoid this happening??

Leave the needle in a bit longer... count to 5 or 10, whatever it takes.

The recommendation when using the current Novopens is that you leave the needle in place for five seconds after pressing the plunger.

I was advised by DNS to count to 10 before removing pen.

I was advised 10 seconds also.....she also said that you shouldn't worry if you get a squirt of insulin after you remove the needle, all of the dose has gone in :)

Ps welcome to the forum- it has some great threads, lovely people and great advice

all good advice so far.............

if you actually measured the amount that came out you would find its not actually that much, however, everyone uses insulin differently, so best to wait for 5-10 seconds........;)

Always told to leave needle in the skin for 10-12 seconds and withdraw the needle slowly.

I have recently become insulin-dependent and I was advised to keep the injection in for 10 secs.

Hi. I've had it happen a couple of times despite waiting 10 secs. It seems to be the bad luck of hitting a hard patch of flesh.
As seems as though thats my issue, the hard patch. I only have a few spots to rotate because I'm thin, so they sometimes reject injections.
