Interesting blood sugar reading with a non diabetic friend

For about 2 months I have stopped insulin injections and still showing stable blood sugar readings, yesterday I went with a friend for a day trip, we popped into a pub for a meal we had a starter, a main course, chocolate brownie and 2 pints of beer, I took 2 metformin tablets, my friend is fairly over weight, whereas I am very slim losing a lot of weight since diagnosis.
We both ate exactly the same thing, I tested my blood sugar when got home, mine was 5.9 I also tested his and his was about 7.7 which I was very surprised about. He could be pre diabetes, but mine is lower than I expected.

I cant say hes not prediabetic but his reaults ar pretty normal. Pluss the alchohol will have dropped your bg level. I go almost normal when drinking especially red wine . I have surjested swapping metformin for red wine but the obvious draw backs were pointed out to me heyho have to work on plan b
