I have been type 1, insulin dependent for about 25 years now and just starting to show some signs of those problems they warn you about and you think wont happen to you. However, in my youth i worked too hard, played too hard and diabetes was the last thing on my mind.
25 + years of not being very well controlled and my eyesight, nerves and kidneys are complaining bitterly. Hence the retiring from work early and moving to the countryside for a better way of life and to concentrate on me a little more. That hasn't worked out too well as my dear old pop decided to pop off and leave me with my elderly mother to look after (who has undiagnosed dementia and is as mad as a bag of badgers) and with having all this extra land, I of course got more animals and have an old farmhouse to modernise and decorate.
But, I am a glass half full type of person so I am looking forward to having my pump fitted this week, taking some much needed control over this diabetes lark, learning from you guys and adopting some pygmy goats and ducks

Good luck with your pump. I think you’ll like it. I started pump treatment over 5 years ago and love it. My BG management greatly improved. I’m about 25 years type 1 as well. I’ll look forward to seeing your posts.

New here. Both top the form and diabetes. Not sure how to manage my blood sugar. A1C is 5.7 so ice been exercising, lifting weights, dieting. A1C won't budge. Not sure why. Any insight would be helpful.

Hi from sunny old Scotland. I have recently had bloods taken for another health reasons which identified that I am pre-diabetic and have high cholesterol. I have been advised by my GP that this can be reversible through a change of lifestyle and diet.

I am overweight (21 stone) and don’t have much physical exercise except walking the dog. I have recently joined the gym with the hopes of being more active. I do smoke but have bought a vape (I know still not ideal) but I’m finding it difficult to stop so I suppose its some progress there. Due to my work and the hours during the week I have been reliant on frozen stuff pizza’s, chicken strips, chips. I do cook fresh food at the weekend though. I used to drink energy drinks daily (usually a monster) but have now quit. Alcohol wise I would have a drink at the weekend, mainly beers and wine.

I am looking for some input from people with similar circumstances that may offer either support/guidance with how to get a grasp of what’s currently going on with my current health.

I have been looking online which seems like information overload and find it difficult to process.

If there is any meal tips, food prep, or batch cooking tips that I could incorporate into my diet. The only fish I can eat is tinned tuna, so would probably me mainly eating chicken-based diet. As mentioned I have high cholesterol so if any information on this would be welcome.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
