Sorry, I read urinated instead of uninitiated, anf thought That is exactly what the BBC is doing to us diabetics. There was an interesting piece on the North of England programme tonight where Prof Taylor was interviewed. However, much else to confused and worry the uniniated and nothing on LCHF.
I also saw the Midlands programme and whilst most of it was poor, they did plug the help given by Diabetes.co.uk.forum
However there was no mention of LCHF.
Why can't they give T1's a separate programme...it is very different disease in treatment and unfair to T1's to muddy the waters with T2's.

Hi Ickhun,I've found one on google play. I'll investigate. Thank you.
It did but only by a third and on good days, by half. Specialist insisted I saw dietician again, who asked me to increase carbs again so doing happy medium as 30g carb has left me with palpatations and more meds. I'm not a whole plate size eater. I use cereal bowl from crockery set at meal times. I can get carried away with nuts when hungry, lately thou.Hi Ickhun,
I hope you don't mind me asking please, Did your need for insulin reduce when you cut out carbs?
I guess you know that stomach reduction surgery is a two edge sword?
I have heard that some who have tried different diets have real problems losing weight, so I see it is not straightforward for anyone in that position.
What ever you do I wish you success.
warm regards
Derek
Hi @ickihun if I've read your post correctly you are only eating 600 cals per day. Could part of your problem losing weight be because your body has gone into starvation mode due to you not eating enough calories? When I tried a vlc diet my body literally shut down and I had to eat normally again - I was diagnosed as having problems with my metabolism soon afterwards.I can see why you say this but many if not most posters here do all the recommendations. Exercise is just 5% of the problem, that's been proven. Diet is the biggest culprit but I only need 600cals permanently. Can you live like that?
In the new year I'm going to get my kids to make me posters and fridge magnets to reconfirm healthy food choices for a diabetic, like me!
I think it is because Type 1 is a relative rare disease and LADA is a rarer one, even if all the diabetics I know personally are LADA.Why can't they give T1's a separate programme...it is very different disease in treatment and unfair to T1's to muddy the waters with T2's.

I have underactive thyroid too so weight loss is near on impossible. With pcos too I can get overcome. However I'm constantly trying but need a break. I will have to take one as my mind will suffer. Which problem with your metabolism were you diagnosed with @Daphne917 ?Hi @ickihun if I've read your post correctly you are only eating 600 cals per day. I was thinking the same thing. I thought my heart struggled with the change, hence palpatations. I'm normally a all or nothing girl but I'm definitely considering an exception on this one. Thank you for your helpful suggestion. It makes sense.Hi Ickihun,
Sorry to hear what a struggle it is fighting your condition. I have a number of health issues so I can empathise.
All I can suggest is to nurse your body into a lower carb state by a very gradual reduction in carbs over weeks and months and gradually adding oil like olive oil to your diet. best wishes Derek

Hi ickihun my problem was that my thyroid wouldn't behave as each time they tested it came up with a different result ie under one month then over the next but rarely normal and this went on for a while. In addition my consultant said that my metabolism was too efficient and, combined with my thyroid issues, I would find it impossible to lose weight because if I dropped the calories too low my body would shut down and I was one of his few patients who could honestly blame their metabolism! When I asked what I could do I was told to eat healthily, not diet and wait for my thyroid to make up it's mind! I had annual tests and was finally diagnosed about 3 years ago with Hypothyroidism and am currently on 50mg Thyroxine which has helped - I've lost weight (still more to go!) but that was about the time I cut down on my carbs so it may be coincidence!!I have underactive thyroid too so weight loss is near on impossible. With pcos too I can get overcome. However I'm constantly trying but need a break. I will have to take one as my mind will suffer.
