Been speaking to someone who is on a keto diet today. Has anyone tried one and how good is it.

My weight plateaued when I stuck with LCHF, (lost an initial 44 pounds, then regained 10, remained steady at that) so I took it a step further with keto and intermittent fasting. I dropped those 5 kilo's I had regained at some point last year, but due to temporary meds I have to eat 3 rather solid meals to avoid side effects like ulcers... Adding 2 pounds, in spite of meals being low carb. Urgh. The moment I can get back to the combination of keto (which I have been sticking to) and IF, I'll return to it in a heartbeat. But then, I am a woman with a bunch of hormone imbalances, which makes it hard to lose weight as it is. But yeah... It took a little getting used to, but I'm happy with it. Eggs, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, avocado (I finally found one that wasn't rock hard or over ripe, yesterday! Happydance! Only took me months!), cauliflower/broccoli rice, meat, meat, meat, fish, and since cow doesn't agree with me, I've been indulging in artisan goat's cheeses... And extra dark chocolate. Even fastfood is a breeze now, I can just leave the bun & ketchup, add extra bacon and lettuce... Yum! And when everything goes as it should, as in, no inflamed shoulder or meds that mess with my blood temporarily, I'm hovering between 4 and 6 mmol/l. Rarely hit the 6 tho'. HbA1c is 34. So if it's bs you're wondering about... Yeah. Keto rocks. :)

If you have an unripe avocado and you can't just wait days for it to ripen, you can help it along by microwaving (briefly, or you will end up with cooked avocado, which is a different experience). Even if you have cut it in half, you can just fit the halves back together first.

Thank you! That helps. :)
