Expensive, but yummy! This has quickly become my, so far safe, guilty pleasure. I'm adoring them.

Here's the Science - and yes, I'm watching my numbers:

How many grams in a packet? They sound lovely, but I think I’d find it hard to stop at a 20g portion!

5 different kinds of sugars and sweeteners.
And has inulin which I find spikes me.
What does your meter say?

I'd steal the idea and make my own from 85% or 90% chocolate. Lots of nuts and just a little of Truvia sweetener... but then I'd eat the lot in just a day or 2 so I'd swear not to make them again. I have no will power :arghh:

Yeah, well I further bulk 'em out with mixed nuts.

What do you think of the Science?

Wow, expensive! :wideyed:
Having looked at the ingredients which I didn’t before (rookie error!) As @MrsA2 there’s too any sugar types there :banghead:

7.8 this morning at 6:00 am, pretty “normal” for me, I was expecting far far worse. Thanks everybody for all your feedback, I’ll keep my T2 eye on this “KETO” product. Oh, I had the best sleep I’ve had for yonks last night, midnight to 6pm and no trip to the bathroom ;).

Why is keto snacks so expensive . 6 pack of crisps £20
Laws of Supply and Demand. There’s comparatively very little demand, so the unit price is high. It remains there until there’s enough demand to make it viable for the competition to make a profit and force prices down. Until that time us T2s have the worst of both scenarios. Putting it another way, think about how many Crisp manufacturers are out there? Look at the Unit costs of production being driven down by their humongous cheap means of production and their return on investment. And putting it another way, it’s expensive because it is perceived, and it IS, a specialist food stuff.

Because it's got the word KETO in them and then you pay a premium for products that aren't even keto at all.

I think this kind of information:
Chips-Supplement_grande_4fdec66d-eeff-4759-b630-eede61671687_1024x1024.jpg

should be forbidden, because in this case many people think it's got only 1% of carbs, while it really has 24%.

Costco and Keto-pro are taking advantage (to put it mildly) of people who don't read the label carefully.

I agree. We, T2s, are generally poorly served by the food industry. I’ve visited our “Health Food” shops and ask the operatives where are the Diab biscuits and so on, replies range from, “We don’t get much call for that” or, this is a classic, “We do have a range of whole grains.” I look past them and nod sagaciously. A Health Food shop!

So, my position is to drive down Carbs to get below 10% per 100mg and less than 20% for “special” treats.

My personal opinion is if something is marketed as ‘keto’ or ‘low carb’ or ‘high in protein’ it’s likely highly processed and not particularly nutritious, but having said that, if you fancy them and your meter says yes, why not?

Yes, there are 3 types of sugar and a sweetener in there, but the ingredients list has considerably less ‘gunk’ than say an Atkins bar or many ‘keto’ or ‘protein’ bars.

Yes, indeed. Since Christmas, I've loathed my successful LCHF diet that I was, unconsciously, wanting an Oasis of flavour. I tried one pack and tested and retested and it hasn't drastically impinged on my standard wanderings around 7s and 8s. And as I said, this is a "treat" for me. Still off of Pasta, Rice, Spuds, etc.

I wonder though whether that's because there are so many choices for low carb already out there so they don't see the need for anything special, otherwise we'd be back in the days of 'diabetic food'. When you think about it, the very high carb food groups out there tend to be the stuff they don't really advise anyone to eat, crisps/sweets/cakes/sugary cereals etc. Of course there are the more generally (comparatively speaking) 'nutritional' carbs too such as wholemeal rice, et al and I'm not sure what the food industry would substitute for that. My guess is all the food industry would do (if anything) is to churn out lower carb items but they won't be healthy items and they're likely to be full of some sugar substitute and positioned in the bakery aisle. For myself, you cannot beat a good, tasty steak, or piece of cheese or fish or all the other naturally low carb alternatives.

@kk124 - I agree, up to the point of what IS presently available. I’m hoping for better. But that’s me. And yes, a nice rib eye with a Cote du Rhone, great.

That, I believe is the US type label. The info would be clearer on UK compliant label.

I would imagine that, given the appalling advice from the NHS Eatwell, that if manufacturers give any thought to this at all, they reckon they are supplying adequate product to our relatively small group.
