Lidl Greek Yogurt

I'm absolutely gutted. I have eaten Lidl's Greek full fat yogurt for years now after recommendations on here. I loved it - until today. I bought my usual 4 tubs - the tubs were a different shape but I didn't think anything of it as it's not unusual for packing to change - then I tried it. It is horrible - tastes like eating a lemon yogurt, really acidic - not the lovely creamy stuff I had become used to. I checked the packaging with a tub of the original yogurt only to find it is Irish - not from GB. It is also double the carbs than the creamier version.

Any ideas of a different yogurt for breakfast? Lidl's were well priced - everything else seems dearer.

Aldi’s full fat Greek is lovely 99p for 500g. I think there’s a litre pot too which works out cheaper if you want to bulk buy. I think @IanBish has quoted the 1kg price for 500g?

I usually buy Aldi Greek yoghurt, but I believe M&S is pretty good though I don't know the price difference. Thanks for the warning about Lidl as I do sometimes buy from there.

Edited to add - both Aldi and M&S have an infuriating practice of hiding the full-fat plain yog, and I often have to trawl through a lot of low-fat or flavoured stuff to find it, so if you don't see it immediately, have a good furtle through the display.

I'm a Lidl Greek and Greek Style yoghurt eater. There have been a lot of changes in packaging of late, although I can't say I have noticed a marked change in taste. I also haven't checked the nutritional info.

Do you have a pic of the packaging of the one you are finding unpleasant. Interestingly, I have to by some today.

Thanks!

I'd return the unopened stating why.

Thank you all for your replies. My apologies for not replying sooner but I have spent the last 12 hours in A&E with hubby.

@Resurgam I am in Northern Ireland so it's maybe just here that has changed. Maybe we need to move across the water just to get Lidl yogurt. :D

@IanBish and @Rachox We don't have Aldi in Northern Ireland. Yes we're behind the times!!

@MrsA2 that is the one I bought too. Oh I miss that lovely creamy taste already!!

@lovinglife - unfortunately FAGE is too expensive for me.

@AndBreathe - hopefully yours is ok. This is actually marked Irish on the tub.

@Angela64 - I had intended to go instore today and speak with someone in charge about the Yogurt. I will take the two pots with me and show them the difference, and how carbs do count.

I think I tried one in M&S before when I couldn't get to Lidl. Will have to shop around and see what I can find. I will update you all after I've been to Lidl.

I have both in the fridge. The one on the right is the new packaging and is from Ireland. I bought it over a week ago so nearly at the bottom of the pot. Use by date is 9th Feb.
The other I bought on Saturday, use by date 1sr Feb.
I've just opened it to a taste test and can't tell any difference.
The new pot seems a little thicker but I always find that at the start of a pot. The taller one is almost empty.
Sounds like the OP's pot was "off", maybe?

Just read original post again. She mentions double the carbs. Both these are almost the same 5 and 4.9.
Is it possible they bought lemon flavoured by mistake?

I have a pot of Aldi Greek-style 10% yoghurt. They had no authentic Greek yoghurt left. It's quite nice, though, and it has 4.6g of carbs per 100g. I might continue buying it; it's less than half the price of the authentic stuff.
