Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

I personally don't like the Lidl rolls never been much of a bread lover but I am really happy for those who do that they have found some bread they can eat again I am sure with most people bread was quite a big part of their diet...I know it was for my husband before T2 he was a real sandwich addict... to have to give it up completely was really hard so hurrah for the Lidl rolls bread is back on the menu for those who can eat them so enjoy them and I hope Lidl keep on baking them

Have you tried a slice toasted with butter or an egg? Far better than not toasted.

I'm not a very bready person, but i think they are best sliced vertically, and quite thin, so they form fingers. These toast brilliantly.

Greetings to all, I have just seen the Lidl Protein Rolls, and when I get chance I will go to the store and buy a couple, then test them to see if I like them, always have an open mind to new foods.
I will always love my bagel they are just right for me in the morning with philly cheese on, may not be the best thing but, I feel full and can get on with the day, ttfn from Karen.

Here is an observation for all the Lidl Roll Specialists :bookworm:

A year ago when this thread started the rolls were 39p. Today they are 29p.

Photo 1 - July 2015. Note how the roll towers above the tin of tomatoes :D

Photo 2 - July 2016. Today's titchy offering o_O

(Evidence they are shrinking and I'm not going mad :p)

I wonder if they had comments that the rolls were too large.
If it was normal 'downsizing' to make more profit, they would have kept the price the same and just reduced the size.

Indeed. I don't think it is an exercise in shrinkflation as they reduced the size plus the price. Perhaps they read on here many people saying they couldn't manage a whole one. The consequence of this is now when I have a sausage sandwich, the sausage sticks out :wideyed:

anyone know the gluten content of these? I eat them because Im T2 and hubby eats them because they're in the house.sigh. He is considering going gluten free so it might mean he stops nicking them!
I slice them thinly so i get 4 triangular slices out of each one , so i get 2 sandwiches out of each. i just found them too 'bready' otherwise.

I just noticed this today when I restocked. Gone from about 120g each down to an average of 92g.

Happily though, I can report that roll aficionados due to holiday in Lanzarote this year will not have to pack their own supplies as Lidl in both Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen have now started baking them. :)

Only another 30g to go and I can have 2 a day :hungry:

Does anyone know what flour is used? Have been looking for a good low carb and gluten free as my daughter is both type 1 & coeliac, really hard to find!

I know one of the main ingredients is wheat protein, so I think it is a No for your daughter. :(

Hi as anyone else noticed that the high protein rolls at Lidles are smaller than they were. Is it just my local?.

Are Lidl still doing these high protein rolls? three supermarkets near me have stopped selling them, despite them seeming to be really popular. Are there any alternatives?

I messaged Lidl UK on Facebook but was simply advised to contact their customer services. I had already done that, and still await a reply. I suppose being a weekend they are not working.

I popped down to our Lidl today to buy as many as I could. I emptied the basket - got 14 rolls to add to the 10 already in my freezer. They should last a while.

I must be really lucky where I live as they bake 2 batches per day and will always take orders for the following day.
The manager of our branch think they are to good a seller to stop completely.
Fingers crossed.
