Sue, buy a slow cooker pot! Stick whatever you like in it, meat, veg, curry, whatever, turn it on, go back a few hours later (or 8hrs if you like) and there it is, cooked, hot and there is NO standing about in the kitchen. Liver casserole anyone?

I do liver with bacon and onions in the pressure cooker in five minutes. Do a bigger batch and save in tubs which you can microwave through the week...

Thanks @KK123., great idea but I actually want to use the oven as a secondary source of heat in the kitchen and I don't really need a slow cooker. Love liver, yes please and kiddly too but that's not for @porl69 me thinks

I use my slow cooker loads in the winter, stews, casseroles, spag bol mix, curries etc. love the smell of it when I get in from work, if hubby wants pasta/rice or potatoes I just make that separate for him

Brilliant, thanks @Colin of Kent but the big thing as I said to @KK123 is I really want to use the oven. I've got a pressure cooker and cook in batches because it makes life easier. Want the oven on for additional warmth

Lol, sorry Sue, I thought you meant you didn't want to stand around in a cold kitchen whilst you were cooking! Right then, going off the subject a bit but our kitchen gets a bit cold so I bought one of those economical stand alone oil filled radiator type heaters and unless you have a massive kitchen it takes the chill off nicely! You just plug it in and off you go.

@sarah_chadwick I can imagine the smell and Mr C is lucky you make him special sides
What I'd really like from everyone is lunches made in the oven to get my kitchen warm.

Haha, it's fairly big, the radiator takes it to just above zero, the additional heater I bought, probably to around 5 and if the sun's shining and the wind is blowing from the north, possibly to around 10. really would like oven recipes

My current fav is broccoli, spinach and Stilton soup. Spinach really helps keep the colour as broccoli by itself can go a bit.... meh....
Liver: to die for.

Do you have a link to a recipe for the soup, sounds delish. TIA.

Special, boef bourgignonne. Everyday, beef stew. Throw in low carb veg if desired, use braising steak or shin and slow cook in the oven. The warmth and smell is delightful. Serve with buttered cabbage or celeriac mash. That's tomorrow's tea sorted ;)

Edited to add. Freezes really well, too.

@SueJB Waitrose do a great line in beef short rib - fairly often on offer - which requires slow cooking in the oven, so plenty of additional heat generated. It’s totally delicious.

@SueJB - You can do anything you can do in a slow cooker in the oven. The only challenge would be if your oven can be adjusted to a low enough temperature.

Sorry, I thought it was more to do with the amount of time you spent in the kitchen! How about a frittata?
Thanks @Colin of Kent I love the kitchen and cooking but it gets nippy. No I lie, it's really cold sometimes. So I'm looking for oven food ideas I can make. I'm a good cook but just want some new ideas
