Rice is a staple in Indian food. I'm looking for some low-carb Indian food and recipes that have low-carb alternatives to rice.

Me too. Lots of people use cauliflower rice and seem to enjoy it. It works well but not for me. Cauliflower and broccoli both really upset my stomach, so that's out. I was hoping that a pasta made with split yellow peas. now on the market, would do the job because according to websites I've seen yellow split peas are only 10% carb, so a little would be acceptable. Unfortunately the company website shows carbs at 35%. Even if that's not net carbs, it would still be too high. There are noodles on the market which are very low carb (Konjac) but, again, I can't tolerate them. They might suit you though.

May I suggest you watch a YouTube channel called Headbangers Kitchen? The creator is Indian and put out a lot of keto recipes. He also has a website with recipes and two recipe books which I use all the time.

You can get "rice" made from Konjac. Not quite the same flavour, but the mouth feel is OK.

The brand I get is called "barenaked" rice and you can get it from a fair few supermarkets.

Re: Low Carb Recipes.

This is now my weekly sunday treat:

Low carb hot chocolate: in a cup put a good dollop of double or clotted cream and break into it a couple of squares of very dark chocolate - I used 85% cocoa. Sprinkle on some cinnamon and then microwave for 20 seconds. Mix into a paste. Slowly add some milk, whilst stirring until the cup is 3/4 full. Microwave again for a minute or until hot enough to drink.
THEN!
Add some coconut oil to a frying pan and add some nutmeg and cinnamon. Peel, core and chop an apple. Add to the pan and fry until brown. You can also core and half the apple and rub with coconut oil before roasting. Tastes delicious! I have both of these together on a Sunday night. Yummmm!
Are the apples low carb?

I doubt you’ll get an answer from the poster as the last time on the forum was 2015, my answer to this would be if you’re fancying it test it & see. I do Keto less than 20g carb a day. But I can tolerate half an apple if combined in a meal. Many on here say they can’t, diabetes is an individual thing which why testing foods & meals for yourself is so important

I don’t know about this particular recipe as I’ve not tried it but the coconut oil fats may slow down the absorption of carbs for you. I can do half an apple in a slaw with mayo, with cheese or I do a belly pork with onions, apple & creamed cabbage which is actually Diet Doctor low carb recipe that doesn’t affect my BG
