Madness?

Don't worry about your replies looking weird. The reply box never forgets. Sometimes I type a reply, then change my mind about what to say, delete it, disappear for a while, come back, and it STILL posts not just the new reply, but the reply I tried to delete too.
That can be very embarrassing especially when venting....that edit button cannot come up fast enough... but of course that's not from personal experience.... much!

I got wavelength jazz from my nurse. I suspect the prescription will stop after my next HbA1c. I will switch to my SD CodeFree because the strips are so much cheaper. I will offer to return the jazz if they want it.

I love animals but...we go on holidays twice a year. my area is very culturally mixed and most of the mixture despises pets, especially dogs. I have one set of neighbours I could rely upon but they will move out in a year to country leaving me with no one I could possibly trust with a treasured pet. Please don’t suggest kennels! I don’t trust them either.

I am of the opinion that all movement is excercise. So gardening, housework inc hoovering and stretching up and down to polish etc is all excercise. You wouldn't catch me in a gym unless I had to go through it to get to the garden centre! I must explain, I am wheelchair bound and cannot tolerate regimented excercise but I manage my bg well now and I have lost weight. Do not misunderstand, excercise helps that is a fact.

you too huh? ;)
I got into the habit a while ago of writing out long and involved replies to things that really got my goat.. Mainly about the ND but some other things. Then would wipe them out only to reply to something else on the same thread and see all the other stuff come up as well... now I just write them in my head or shout at the screen (usually the latter these days)

Do you like dogs? With a dog the walking changes from 'exercise' to 'meaningful effort'. Plus, it will make the dog happy, and a happy dog is just the best for a good mood :)

lol I'll have to try that :)

Must be really really much more tricky to manage if wheelchair bound. My partner is disabled but mobile due mostly to being bloody minded and smack patches
Ok, I am beginning to look like an “excusenik” here. I loathe housework, always have, always will. I have a little garden, loathe gardening but like a bit of order so I do what I need to. DIY I am not bad at if limited in skills. So am currently engaged on a bit of exterior painting. I am dripping with sweat like everyone else.
A dog is a great suggestion...we have wanted one for years but we take two holidays a year and don’t ask me to give those up...and my neighbours are of cultures that dont do pets and hate dogs from a religious viewpoint. And yes they are religious when it suits them. So I wouldn’t trust them with my pets let alone keys to my gaff. I don’t trust kennels either. So I have to exercise or not achieve my targets. It’s simple. No self pity, just realistic. As a nurse who worked for nearly 30 years in community I am used to creative thinking to help others get more from their lives. I can largely apply to myself.
It’s getting a handle on the diabetes that I need. When it was not mine to own, it turns out what I was taught is not necessarily the way it is to live with it.
Thank you all for your support.

Maybe you and I should start a new thread....exercise for those who really don't want to do it.... ;)

“ND”??
Yes, it’s a bit like nurses v managers. The penpushers want you to do another pointless paper exercise whilst you know first duty is to patients. You long to email f@ck off and take your b@st@rd overpaid colleagues with you but know a dismissal (mine) would follow. So three venting drafts later you finally email a polite refusal. The joy!!

Whereabouts are you? I used to live in East London, for many years, but moved away about 15 years ago. I first moved there in 1977, and it was such a different place. But you could maybe try and find a way to make walking interesting, there are lots of little museums, and still some old history left, you could go exploring.

This website is really interesting

I find the rapid disappearance of the history very sad, but you could take a camera and catch the last of it before it's gone, and make walking much more interesting.

ND = "Newcastle Diet" severe calorie restriction which some have found has helped to reverse their Type 2. I'm a sceptic as to the long term sustainability but others swear by it. 800 cals a day for 8 weeks usually but not only using "diet shakes".
( I think that was more balanced than my usual take on it, if not I'm sure someone will be along to contradict me...)

All I know is that if you are looking to lose weight, listen to Bulkbiker! Look at his before and after pics and you will understand what I mean. Hail bulkbiker!:)
