Yes and dripping on toast was another favorite sprinkled with salt it was lovely especially the gravy bit at the bottom of the dripping bowl
DRIPPING....it was real beef dripping in those days, I could never eat it though but my mum loved it along with other stuff mentioned. Tripe and onions, liver, kidney black pudding etc she lived to 88 yrs and only became ill 6 weeks before she passed away. One thing I remember well was cod liver oil and malt, us kids couldn't' get enough of it, it was sweet and sticky and was provided by the state so we would keep healthy??! Another thing was national health Orange juice that was delicious but terribly sweet. Not sure how many oranges went into it though. We now have more people living longer so I think there must have been something in this dreadful diet
