I plan to try bread as I miss that the most, but will get the Bergen one or the a waitrose one - even though it is so expensive! Sounds like these are least likely to make levels shoot up. But will not do this until reached target weight.

Scandi, after doing more research, there is honestly no evidence out there that says carbs are essential, there are no research papers at all. Particularly starchy carbs. When you think that pasta, rice potato has to be cooked to make it palatable and has also undergone processes, there is no reason to actually eat it as I know you have found out.I think I was either 9.4 or 9.6. Naan bread wasn't much lower and when I had 4 mouthfuls of pasta it went up up 8.something. Imagine what would have happened if I'd eaten a child's portion! I dread to think! I had to ring the hospital to check the date of the appointment as I forgot to take the letter. I spoke to the lovely diabetic nurse at the hospital. She asked me how I was. I told her that I had now lost 2 stone 2lb (she told me that's fantastic!) and halved my hba1c. (She said she couldn't believe how well I'd done!) I told her that my was usually between 5.5 and 6.5. She told me that I needed to eat more carb. I patiently explained what happens when I eat rice, pasta and bread. She told me that I needed to eat more carb as it's a source of energy.
2 rashers of bacon in a slice of bread was divine and so was the ice cream and nuts and chocolate afterwards
I have a slice of bergen linseed and soya each day. Seems to provide a very stable BG response. I also buy rye bread from LIDL (as a bloomer) slice it up and freeze it. I was eating 2 of these slices a day. Had a little more BG response than the bergen but it was (by weight) more than double (very dense).
Ah yes I agree the german stuff is but they also do a bloomer cooked in the bakery which is just like I used to have as a child
i dont think because Andrew has chosen to do this experiment, others should try it. carbs are sugar.
just opinion,
