My hbac1 test results

Had my first set of results today after first being diagnosed. So it’s been 3 months. Originally when I was diagnosed my results were 102 . Today they are 50 so still in the diabetic range ☹️. Im not sure how to feel. Was hoping I was going to at least be in the pre diabetic range. I’m not really asking any questions haha just wanted to put it out there.
 
Oh actually I’m currently on x3 metformin per day. Do you think with these results they will put that up to full dosage or even add anymore medication
 
Excellent result. Your HbA1c is an average of the last 3 months so your next one should be even better. I would not expect any more medication to be suggested.

Really great turnaround be proud not disappointed. You have clearly worked hard at this and like others have said your next HBA1c will be outside diabetic range. Keep doing what you are doing because it clearly works.
 
That is a fantastic result. your Hba1c of 50 includes 1 month or so at 100+, 1 month at perhaps 75 and on down averaged out.
Your next one will be 1 month at 50 and on down averaging a lot lower i would predict.
Well done give yourself a big pat on the back

What a brilliant result. With that result (given how far it looks back) you'll currently be under 50, so if you continue as you are you should be even more pleased next time.

I had a similar trajectory at the three month stage (51 in my case). At the 6 month stage I leap-frogged the pre-diabetic zone entirely. Given how much yours has come down already, I think there is a good chance you'll experience the something similar. I was a bit disappointed in my 51 as my average daily glucose monitor readings suggested it'd be lower, but the HBA1c is a lagging indicator so it just took a bit longer.

Awesome result - keep doing what you are doing, it is clearly working, you are not far away from normal numbers. Well done you! :)

I wasn't sure what emoji to give your post. I can understand the disappointment of not getting into the non-diabetic range but also consider you a winner given what a change you've made to a disease most doctors consider is progressive.

As everyone else has said you're bound to get a great result next time.

Was your doctor surprised? I would be surprised if they suggested any more medication and hopefully it won't be long before they suggest you could take a bit less medication.

Be proud of how well you have done.

Doctors usually don't see T2 Diabetes get better - no matter how much medication they prescribe.
With your results, the best )but small minority) Doctors will be curious and ask what you did to achieve your result. Others will decide that it is they who caused your success (not realistic since they failr with all their other patients) or that they don't have enough time to investigate.

Don't be disappointed if you get no reacation from your Doctor - that is just the usual response, I'm afraid.
 
I managed 91 to 47 by the first retest and then 41 at 6 months - and not really trying all that hard to be honest.
You really could be in normal numbers at the next test - or even closer to non diabetic as you have already outdone what I achieved.
I think - psychologically, getting just into the lower ranges was a good thing for me, but they are just arbitrary numbers, and you did start off at a rather high point.
The best news is that you look as though you are responding as an ordinary plain and simple type 2 - nothing 'interesting' - which means that with a low carb diet you are likely to be able to reduce down to normal and stay there - it has worked for me for over 5 years now and I feel so much better than when on a 'healthy' high carb diet.
 
Great result. It will get better. Just keep going with what you have been doing to get it down so far.

Thank you. The doctors have yet to contact me. I have access to all my test results through the NHS app. Unfortunately I have not heard from my diabetic nurse since diagnosis and I had to chase up this blood test and foot test my self in the first place. I have not had anything explained to me from the start. So I’m super glad this forum exists.
