Thanks for sharing this information. I am a keto & Fung fan, and I just listened to the episode -- loved it. I bookmarked the 2 keto dudes episodes page and subscribed to their e-mail list. I am going to listen to all of these episodes and listen to the new ones each week. They even got the author of The Big Fat Surprise, Nina Tiecholz. This is another book I need to get after I'm done with all my others.Which Facebook page was that on? Have you listened to the Fung podcast on 2 keto dudes.. very funny and pretty blunt speaking from the maestro.
You can do it Jen!!
Just finished reading this book:
It's been a very interesting read and explains the relationship to cholesterol and heart disease/prevention. It also was very good at analysing low fat diets and their detriment to our long term health.
I wish all docs and the government would read this and change the advice that's killing those who want to swim with the tide
I'm with you on the all then nothing type of gal. You're so right Brun but there is one difference this time! I am committed wholeheartedly about staying on here and recognise that being here and getting support is all part of my recovery process.
I haven't really noticed that cycle - mad really when you've spotted it straight away. I've never been one for baby steps - I've been an all or nothing type of gal all these years and look where it's got me.
The difference this time is I'm not in denial - I have been continuing to monitor FBG after these step backs and recorded them on here as a way to be accountable and get straight back on it.
I assumed that I'd be able to withstand temptation because I'd had such great progress but I agree now that was niaive to think that.
I will carry on and get back on the wagon today.
We will not be going away for another couple of weeks and I will be better prepared for it. Summer holidays are the worst for me - the added stress of the girls, the ex trying to ruin plans and lack of money all takes its toll....
Thank you Brun for your frankness. Xxxxx
Hi.
My name is Debbie and I have sinned...
Took girls to cinema yesterday and then to a restaurant afterwards, having the intention to eat ribs. When I got there, I was handed a deal option and then strayed from my low carb righteous path and had the following:
Shared garlic bread pizza (this was divine and probably tasted even better because it was so wrong).
Pepperoni pizza. All of it including the crust which I never eat
And then to add the proverbial cherry on top, a waffle (which I donated a third to the girls) with two scoops of ice cream. I all but licked the plate!
I'm feeling really disappointed in myself. So much for having control.
So that really is it for me. I've suffered all night with the bloat and am still this morning. I feel tired too because of it.
So I shall be fasting daily until I'm back to 6.0.
Successfully lasted a whole day without temptation!
Had an amazing dinner to break fast - steamed salmon, spinach with spring onion and broccoli in creamy cheese sauce. Honestly was way more enjoyable than the **** I ate last night!!
I've been busy making nice stuff for kids to eat as part of my plight - nut brittle, fruit trifle etc. Debating whether to have a dessert...will see how I feel.
I've really gotten into these 2 Keto Dudes podcasts! Very interesting to hear some of the successes these guys and their guests have had. One started on an hba1c of 11 and is now 5.9 and officially free of t2. Very inspiring.
I also did yoga and weights routine during my fast. All good there and I've found my reach has increased for one of the moves in only three sessions! Very pleased with that.
And finally, bizarrely got a call from doctors to remind me that my hba1c needs to be repeated in 3 months. Of course I knew this and am ready to take the test mid September
Does anyone know what the official FBG is to be officially non pre-diabetic in the UK? I've got 5.7 in my head but can't recall where I'd heard it.
D x
Thanks so much for that! So basically what I'm understanding is that I would need to be less than 6.5 AND pass the glucose tolerance test in order to be 'better'.
That 6.5 is fairly achievable but not sure I'll ever pass the glucose tolerance test
I think I mean in remission or reversed my diagnosis...x
