My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

Well I made it! Went to mc D and had two (!) double cheeseburgers without the bun. Came home and was seriously craving spinach so had some steamed with spring onion, garlic and cream. It was lovely!

Well and truly stuffed now....

Proud of myself.

Thanks for the support x

Had another rubbish sleep last night. Wish my sciatica pain would just go away. It's not helped by the wet weather either but hopefully it'll feel less bad of the weather improves....I'm looking forward to swimming later - got a clever leg float thing which means I can just use core and arms to strengthen without hurting my leg....

FBG was 6.2 this morning so it's coming down slowly with fasting. Can't wait to hit the 5s again.

I'm due my next blood test next week - quite excited to see the results for that and compare them to the last set.

Have a good day x

Fast day 4 is complete!

Had an amazing dinner to break the fast and feel very satisfied.

Bg at 6pm was 6.1. Could be the heat I guess? And maybe not enough water today?

I agree with Clive...I e just had a rubbish run....according to my wife....haha:) she was right, but I did it and so keep going Deb:)

So you've got a puppy?

No dog - my kids are desperate for one but we already have a cat. I'm tempted to get one but it wouldn't be fair on the cat who was here first and I'm not ready for the commitment. We borrow dogs from friends so they get a taste of having a dog but without the full on responsibility....

So tomorrow will be my first fast at work. I am not sure what to expect and may e d up shifting from dinner to dinner fasts to lunch to lunch fasts which will be easier. But for tomorrow, I'm going for gold!!

X

I started my weekly fast last night at 7pm, feeling good this am and about to go for me run:)

Good luck with your fast :)

Diagnosed 13/4/16: T2, no meds, HbA1c 53, FBG 12.6, Trigs 3.6, HDL .75, LDL 4.0, BP 169/95, 13st 8lbs, waist 34" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, w 42").

2/6/16: FBG AV 4.6, Trigs 1.5, HDL 2.0, LDL 3.0, BP 120/72, 11st 11lbs, waist 30" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, w 42").

Regime: 20g LCHF, run 1 mile daily, weekly fasting.

6/6/16: Three BP readings now 112/64 & 112/66, 113/65 :)

Thanks! Morning reading was 6.0 so I'm ok with that. Still struggling to get accurate weight as scales say down only 200g! Surely that can't be right after 5 fasts!!

That's day 5 now complete. Had hospital follow up after my steroid spinal from March. Doc was pleased with my weightloss but recommended I get down by 25-30kgs

I'll give it a go but it seems such a long way....nothing worthwhile was ever easy....

Ok I'm annoyed! Since my 2nd day fasting, scales are showing weightloss of 300g.

That's it?!!! After not eating for four days?!!!!!!

Why am I not losing more?

FBG was 6.1 today.

You need to be patient:)

You are not plateauing.

I only lose 1lb a week at best now with a 42 hour weekly fast and strict 20g LCHF.

The main thing with the intermittent fasting is BG stability, correction of Dawn Phenomenon and progressive steady weight loss:) you'll get there in the end:)

But have you 'been' ?

A good clear out will drop those lbs. Do concentrate on the water intake it will help with the head and the bowels....

I just wish that I had the backbone to join you in the IF regime, you are amazing

Thanks for the support.
I wish it was a quicker process. Everything I read shows people losing really quickly and I can't help but be envious

I never understand that. The more I learn about longterm weight loss, the slower and steadier I want to lose.
So many people lose rapidly and are just setting themselves up for more yoyo ing.
Plus there is the baggy saggy skin issue.
Why do people want to set themselves up for that, when reducing slowly allows the skin to shrink with you? Not perfectly, but much better.

I would prefer 2 pounds a month to 2 pounds a week, and throughout my life, when I have achieved that lovely slow rate of loss, the weight has stayed off (5 stone so far). I don't mind plateaux, I don't mind daily fluctuation, or any of the little realities of life, but I try to draw an absolute line in the sand so that I do not REGAIN.

Then the only direction of movement possible is slowly inching down.

Brun - how long did your weightloss take?

I have this finale in my head and it's a race to get there as soon as possible. I wonder if it's because I've wasted so much time yoyoing. I regret that but just wasnt strong enough at the time....

And my swimming is out the door today as I've got a training course after school.

I have kind of stepped down, over about 10 years. with years of plateaux in the middle.
When I switched to VLC I lost 20 pounds in 10 months, without doing any calorie or restriction at all.
Then I stopped losing. Thought it was too much protein, thought it was less exercise during winter, thought it was all sorts of things. Eliminated them all. But then I found out more about insulin resistance, and the phrase 'you are as fat as your insulin resistance needs you to be' jumped out. Think it was in a You Tube vid by Sarah Hallberg.

Quite an Aha Moment - cos I do have silly amounts of IR (due to non-D meds, and several hormone issues).

So now I am no longer trying to lose weight (although it would be nice!)
Instead I am simply trying to reduce my insulin resistance via a combo of VLC + intermittent fasting
- and will see what happens to my weight.

Morning!
Have some good news and some news I wish was better but is still good....

So FBG was 5.8! Super pleased with that result.

Weight is down by 600g - just over a pound which isn't so great but it's weight off.

Interestingly, my body fat percentage has increased which is a bit of a worry....it's only by 0.7% but I'd have thought it would be off not on!!

Today is fast day 6 and I'm awake and hungry....!
