Hi i take x2 metformin am and pm daily. why do i feel so awful in the pm after dinner? also my blood sugar has come down lots since this all started, ive totally cut sugar from my diet, havent lost much weight either as a result.
anyone else feel yacky after dinner, (tummy ache, windy and then the poops!)

Yeah, metformin. Ask your doctor for the slow release variant, lots of people find it less distressing. And carry on improving your BG, perhaps look at a very low carb diet, and you may find you can ditch it altogether. :cat:

Hi Dave.
How long have you been taking metformin? Some people have such reactions initially and some need to talk to Drs to see about different medication. Talk to the Dr or Diabetic nurse don't suffer any longer. Best wishes and let us all know how it goes.

Profuse apologies Dawn. There are some foods which trigger tummy upsets in me even though I take a single metformin very early morning. The most notable trigger is waygu beef otherwise I have never had a problem- unlike taking notice of names:arghh:. Hope it is all resolved

Hi thanks for the reply, i dont eat meat, i live on veg and roasties! ive changed all my white stuff for brown stuff, ie pasta, bread etc.
Im struggling food wise, it was hard enough trying to figure out what to eat before...

There is a vegetarian and vegan section on the low carb forum, but you may make more progress (and be able to give up the metformin?) if you swap some of that brown stuff for green

eg courgetti spaghetti, cauliflower rice etc etc.
