Thank you @shelley262 .Think it has just been mentioned in the who made Britain fat channel 4 programme by Michael Moseley it’s a very dispiriting tv programme and he said that a pilot of the new just launched NHS digital weight loss programme was disappointing - presume it’s the same an app based programme. Be interesting to see just what level of support and what type of advice participants are given.
Thanks, @MrsA2 , I have read that, but there is still no infomin the leaflet as to which agencies are providing the programmes. Also, there is that assumption that lifestyle change, and coaching is needed.Service users who do not initially respond to the text message will be contacted by phone by the Referral Management Centre to support them through the process.
- They will then be able to select their preferred programme from a choice of providers.
- Step 3 – The chosen provider will contact the service user within 10 working days to start their programme.
Above taken from the patient information leaflet.
A quick bit of Google shows at least 2 suppliers, with the emphasis on lifestyle change and coaching rather than a specific diet
I've asked in a couple of other low carb forums for youI really hope some members have taken up the offer and can give me some insights. Tempted to accept the challenge, but not sure I have the patience for being treated as if I am in need of education in diet and exercise, and told to follow the ‘healthy carb, low fat, fruit and vegetable , directive.

Does anyone have any experience of this?
I ask because today I received a text to my mobile phone stating:-
“ Your GP has put you forward for the new Digital Weight Management Programme. That offers free, online access to weight management services for those who have a BMI greater than 30 and who also have diabetes or high blood pressure. The BMI threshold is 27.5 for people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds. You will only be able to enter the programme if you have internet access. Text back Decline if you do not wish to be included.”
I try to keep an open mind, but the cynic in me is thinking this is a push to something like Weight Watchers or Slimming World. So just wondering if anyone has accepted the invitation and completed the programme, or even started it and stalled, and can tell me what it entails.
Thanks in anticipation.

A search of Lifestyle Club has offered all sorts of shopping alternatives, but can’t find anything relating to weight management. Can you provide further details please, @Goonergal.Do you know which service it is? The Public Health Collaboration have a new service which has been taken up in some areas of the NHS (I am hoping to become one of those delivering it in due course). That is definitely advocating a real food, low carb approach. For someone who has been around the forum for any length of time, there would be little new in the content, but there may well be value in the peer support group it provides. That service is called The Lifestyle Club.
