No improvement

Some are required to fast (8 to 12 hours), some don't have to, and I have no idea what the difference is. So might as well fast and make sure.
if I am allowed to get it tested again I will be farsting. / I am waiting for my genetic test results or mody, to come back any idea what this test is going to determine or should I not even worry about this test its going to take a while to get back due to covid-19

Mody is a type of diabetes that is a bit of a mix of T1 and T2, I suppose... It is a result you'll want to pay attention to.

This is the test, dr told me will take few months to get back due coronavirus being the main priority. C-peptide took 12 weeks to get back to me so I'll wait patiently to get these results too

I haven't been able to sleep either, I can be wide awake throughout the whole night I know this isn't doing my blood sugars any good either, I've tried everything recommended on the NHS website but yet I cannot switch off. I used to be able to switch of quite easily and now I am struggling. I think my diabetes has probably something to do with this.

Hi. Anyone who tells you to have a high level of carbs hasn't a clue and should definitely be ignored. Whether T1 or T2, carbs need to be controlled to some extent and even when on insulin they need to be controlled enough to avoid weight gain and insulin resistance. You can have fat and protein fairly freely. Can you let us know what your BMI is? If it's over 25 then you may well still be having too many carbs. You say you are on Gliclazide and Basal/Bolus insulin? This is not normal and you need to suggest to the GP that one or other is stopped; probably the Gliclazide. My DN forgot to stop my Glic when I started insulin and readily did that when I pointed it out to her. Also the Novorapid should be taken for all important meals which normally means 3x per day injected around 15 minutes before eating. You should also be carb-counting and that means adjusting the Novorapid at each meal based on the amount of carbs using your 'Bolus ratio'. I get the feeling that your surgery diabetes support is not good so keep learning from this website, ask questions and be prepared to question your GP/DN treatment. The good side is that you have been given GAD and C-Peptide tests which is more than I was offered!

My BMI is 24.6 I know my pharmacist was asking me why I was still on gliclazide and sitagliptin still and he will be contacting my gp to ask why, and I'm.still getting the hang of carbs and don't know how to carb count at all. Would be happy to learn.

And this could be the reason you’re having issues if you really are type 2. What foods are you eating in a day? Don’t worry about weights, if it’s the right thing it won’t matter much and if it’s wrong the more of it the bigger the problem. Just a list of the items you eat and drink.

Hi,

I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time.

Like previous people maybe start by listing what you are eating on atypical day. I'm a bit concerned that you say you are going lower carb. but then say you don't know how to carb count.

As you are on medication you will need to be careful about reducing your carbs and make sure you regularly test. I get the impression you are fairly young ( I most certainly am not) so it is important for the rest of your life.

People have suggested further testing which is a good idea but in the meantime list what you eat and the amazing people on here may be able to give some pointers.

In relation to the videos- just because someone makes a video doesn't mean they know anything. It really comes back to your meter. I test very regularly and I know carbs are an issue for me. Eating low carb is not that hard once you get your head around it. Eating out is still problematic for me but my health is important,

Good luck.

Anyone who says you can fix insulin resistance with glucose and fructose has no clue what they are talking about. Anyone listening to this advice will lose limbs and die.

The End.

I eat once or twice a day, sometimes even once,
I usually have some veggies and meat and carbs with my meal. For example, I could have a tuna with veggies. Or fish and veggies on the side, or dhaal and rice on the side. Its different everyday but I'm going to start taking pictures of my meals.

Try without any dhal or rice at all and see what difference it has on your readings. It might surprise you. Don’t forget to prevent hunger this might mean increasing fats and proteins. Which veggies? Some are much better than others

Spinach, broccoli, peas, kale, I usually mix them all up into a bowl.
