Numb feet - Worry

I am not going to get into a debate with your views/opinions and I'm off to find how to put your posts on an ignore list, I find them offensive.

edit, well that was easy, to ignore someone you click on their avatar name, which takes you to their home page, top left is a choice to ignore or follow

@andrew, you can reverse your diabetes in just 3 weeks if you went on a strict 700 calorie vegetable diet, it has been proven and also on youtube there is a video with about 8 volunteers who went on a exersize and diet program. Even the patient who had type 1 managed to get rid of the insuline. The patients with type II most of them succeeded, 1 didn't manage because he was addicted to his usual food and just couldnt maintain the entire month..the rest managed to stay off any meds and they all had normal bg level.

Having strictly adhered to an 8 week 'Newcastle' * diet twice, around two years apart I am yet to be convinced it is a 'cure'. Despite usually having a waking level in the 4 - 6mmol range and cycling 70 miles a week I still fail an oral glucose tolerence test. I certainly feel better having lost lots of weight, but a cure for all it certainly isn't in my experience.

When you continue take meds things will progressively become worse year after year till you get a stroke or heart attack...my advise for any type 2 patient is to gradually ditch the meds and exersize about half an hour a day and have a strictly vegetable diet with some added nuts and fruits...it actually is possible to reverse diabetes in a matter of a few weeks..meds will actually worsen the diabetic condition rather than cure it..never ever listen to a doc when it comes to diabetes..don't become a volunteer of the financial medical system..become a winner
T1's cannot reverse diabetes and it's not a good idea to advise people to stop taking meds on an open forum. If something works for you, great, discuss it even, but don't assume it will work for all.

As soon as anyone mentions T1 and no insulin we know it is dangerous bullsh&*t!!! ANd 700cals, sounds like the pre insulin cure for T1, starvation!

There is no cure as yet, only very good control which is probably not achievable by everyone.

For me good control is achieved partly by minimum dose metformin, lots of exercise, a low carb (and increasingly higher fat) diet, keeping an eye on my weight (I'm not overweight and intend to stay that way) and probably most importantly, measuring my BG levels as that lets me adjust the balance of my food and exercise to try reduce large changes in my BG. I will avoid going on stronger drugs or insulin for as long as I can, but when needed I will use them.

Forgot to mention in my previous posting above that similar results for oral glucose tolerance were also experienced in the Newcastle trial indicating all the participants still had (at least) impaired glucose tolerance according the WHO guidelines.

See page 5 - Post-intervention observation

1.0 mmol/l. Three participants had recurrence of diabetes as judged by a 2 h post-load plasma glucose >11.1 mmol/l."

Thank goodness, the very untoward claims and advise have been challenged on this thread, which has lost it's direction......
It is really scary reading what a few people have written here.
I will stay on my medication thank you...I need it.

Health comes first, make sure you do what is right for you as individuals....
And yes do consult your medical team if you are in any doubt .....

Hello All,

First time on the forum.

Struggling at the moment as my feet have been gradually getting more numb. Started in toes and now feel across the bottom of feet (more during the day when at work). Work stress does not help at all - so am trying exercise to manage the stress elements.

The other stress is worrying about the numbness and how quickly it will spread; where it will spread to and how that will effect daily life and work.

I need to improve my will power of sweets and cakes.

But the biggest element is the worry over the numbness - which has me in a vicious circle of being stressed which amplifies the numbness which then causes more stress.

Any advice or ideas on how to think positively about this would be greatly received.

Thanks,
Emmett
Please take some medical advise to see if anything can be done to help you.....x

To the original poster who has unfortunately had their post well and truly hijacked. Please talk to your doctor. He/she needs to know exactly what you have told us. Don't leave it, make that appointment.

Here's a couple of people who have written about Dr Cousens and his 'cure'

That raises questions but this one raises a big red flags about this naturopath to me (as does the wiki article on him)

I'm not tired, and like many people on here I live a fit and healthy life using insulin.
How about this wonderful lady, diagnosed in 1934 and has spent 75 years on insulin,.

Hi before I was diagnosed 14 months ago, my feet were very numb and lower legs very painful, I could hardly walk....now with my medication for diabetic health things have improved, but both my toes are painful on walking....
I have read about nerve ending damage and I am going to mention this problem to my gp...
You might like to think about doing that as well, as I understand that there maybe medication to help if required.....
Look after yourself and seek further advice....really sorry about what has happened on your thread....it is not usually like this.
Please don't be upset or put off posting again, although I understand that threads like this can be threatening and a worry, but hope that after the poster has been reported the dangerous posts will stop...
Hope you get some medical help soon....best wishes Kat

Wow - thanks for all the helpful replies.

I have copied and pasted a lot of this thread - so I can plan my way forward.

Thanks very much.
Emmett

p.s. thanks for the comments re hijacking thread; frustrating but unavoidable.

The topic of the #gbdoc tweet chat tonight (9pm) is about feet and diabetes - just in case you wanted to join in.
