One Happy Lady

Thank you Carol, ickihun, Goonergal and BB8.HG xx :):)

@Aldebaran Wow what an amazing result - as you say hard work and I think especially the last bits when you’ve got your blood glucose down to normal levels but want to lose more poundage! I’m,like you, now starting out on maintenance and think it’s going to be a bit of trial and error keeping it where it is but it’s more fun than losing!
Still when you look in the mirror to see the new you it’s all well worth it. I’ve still got some of my clothes from just a few months ago and it’s really strange when you put them on and you look like a clown because you can’t really believe how much you’ve lost! Well done on that massive weight loss and putting your diabetes into remission.

You've done brilliantly so far Rachox. And I agree that this forum has a wealth of knowledge that is vital for all Diabetics. The way I look at my Diabetes is that if I hadn't indulged in chocolates and goodness knows what else, I wouldn't have got it in the first place. My diet was unbelievably bad. I ate chocolate and buns, etc, every day and at 1.00am, 2.00am and even 3.00am in the morning, every night. It's one of those conditions where you're never sure how to word it when someone has done what we have. Good luck with the rest of your weight loss xx.

Thank you! I admit to an overindulgence of chocolate and cakes, but never in the middle of the night, I was far too lazy to get up til morning! :playful:

Thank you Shelley. You're right because it is more fun losing it and because it becomes your daily routine, it's hard to change it. I'm also a little frightened to change it too because I can't stand the thought of the weight coming back. The mirror is a friendly welcome instead of me hating it. I struggle sometimes to see the new me though. It's called Neuroplasticity. Sometimes your brain struggles to see you differently but wearing old and larger clothes does help for me to see how different I am. Congratulations to you too Shelley and good luck with maintaining what you've worked hard for xx.

Lol, I was lazy too Rachox so I took the goodies to bed and had a stash of them next to me :playful: I still love them but obviously now, they're a treat and NOT part of my everyday food intake.

What a U Turn! Absoblumminlutely Stupendous, well done that lass.

I feel amazing and need to pat myself on the back. I am a few pounds off losing 8 stone now and I can't tell you how good that feels. I have reversed/resolved or put my Diabetes Type 2 in remission, (not sure which one it is), and this has spurred me on to change my lifestyle for good. I did post about my Diabetes a few months ago now but losing over another 2 stone has made me want to share my update.

I am mostly low carb now, barring a treat a day with my main meal. I did this without thinking about it to be honest but learning about what carbs can do has helped tremendously. My husband doesn't want me to lose any more weight and he's right because I will border on being thin, not slim, but it's just habit now and adjusting my diet to maintain my weight has yet to be conquered.

I'm so pleased that I will proudly now show off the real me in my Avatar. It was taken last year at our 30th Wedding Anniversary party and I'd lost about 7 and a half stone at that point. Cameras now fear me lol. But to say I'm so proud to have changed my Diabetes status isn't a big enough word. Thank you for all the hints and tips on the forum. This is one very happy bunny xx.

Congratulations what a wonderful achievement , you should be very proud of yourself .x

That’s equivalent to a whole person you’ve lost! An absolutely amazing achievement. It makes me so happy to read stories like yours and know that reversal/ remission is attainable. Well done, a truly fantastic feat x

That whole person could be me!!

Hi @Aldebaran - A massive, massive well done. That's quite a u-turn you've made in your life.

As I intimated in my previous post, you have lost more than I weigh. I ever fail to be astonished when folks do that.

Keep fighting that good fight. Stalling the weight loss can be a tricky one. When I wanted to stall weight loss myself, it took several weeks to achieve it, during which time I got a bit thinner than I would ideally have wanted. I know, @Bluetit1802 found the same.

I'd suggest you make a plan of how you intend to achieve the stall, and only change one thing at a time, so that you can identify what you did. I was very nervous of the potential to yo-yo, so really took it pretty seriously.

Good luck as you move forward. I have a feeling you'll be just fine. :)

Congratulations !!! Your success story is very inspirational for people like myself who have recently been diagnosed T2 with a very slow metabolism and age making it impossible to lose weight.

Sometimes I walk past people who are about this weight and I can't believe that I've lost the equivalent of a person. My poor body had to carry that weight around and I regret that so much. I'm hoping that I'm making up for it now. I couldn't lift 8 stone if I tried so it puts it into perspective really. Thank you DJC3 x :)

Wow DCUKMod, it really does astound me that my body had to carry that extra weight and knowing that you are about that weight yourself amazes me. I could try what you've suggested here to see if that helps. I am so scared of gaining the weight again but I have to try something and doing this could help tremendously. I haven't seen Bluetit's post about this. I find posts like that helpful as although I'm experienced in losing the weight, I have no experience in maintaining it. Thank you DCUKMod x :)
good job on your weight loss! :)
Cheers phdiabetic x:)
@Aldebaran - brilliant result - so well done :)
Thanks Polgara x :)

Thank you SZB2357. Try to think of it as not impossible but that it may take longer AND what works for one person, won't work for another. It's about finding what fits your life and concentrating on anything that could give your slow metabolism a much needed boost while making sure your Diabetes is controlled. If one thing doesn't work, try another. Don't lose hope and when the frustration kicks in, slap it hard and refuse to give in. Somethings that worked for me were A) Knowing that I HAD to change my lifestyle, B) Taking every little achievement as a massive positive, C) Reveling leaping upstairs or running outside, anything that showed how far I'd come while losing the weight, D) Keeping in mind why I'm doing it and the goals that I was aiming for.
I still can't believe how the old me had disappeared but boy have I partied now she's back. I had my first tattoo ever in January to symbolise my beautiful family and to show how far I've come.
Make sure you do it for you and the very best of luck to you SZB2357. You CAN do it, trust me x :)

Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss and reversal of your diabetes. I started lchf at the beginning of the year and have so far lost 2 stone although I really need to lose another 3 stone. From my heaviest weight I am 4 stone lighter but lost 2 stone naturally. Reading your post has really spurred me on to reach my goal. Deb

Thanks Deb and congratulations on your own weight loss too. You've clearly worked hard to lose two stone so far this year and it really is one of the hardest things anyone has to do.

Last night I had a huge pang to eat a few Cadbury Creme Eggs and I was actually quite miserable. All I had to do was to remember walking passed the mirrors in Asda on Saturday and loving what I saw and the pangs lessened. I can't go back to that, not only because of what the weight did to me but I don't want the Diabetes to return as it scared me. Good luck Deb in losing the rest of the weight xx :)

Congratulations Aldebaran. Really inspiring journey. You deserve your success.
