One year on from more fat

Lidl had two different types of flaxseed both with other ingredients..
Quinoa as per my other list of stuff bought. I know high in carbs but I won't eat any more than a tablespoon as I only eat small portions of anything. Just that a lot of med recipes had it, so thought I would include and watch any effects. I'm also very aware of needing to keep my calories up.

Yes, I had so this is why I'm dirching the dairy saturated etc and desperately trying to establish taste buds for olives and avocado's (not that hard so far!:)) hubbys dad had hear atacks starting at 50 years old so mentioned HF TO GP onFri phone call which is why he going to start 40g Atorovastatin and have thyroid checked too.

Seems that we 'may' both be in the minority of intolerance to overall increase in fats but are both determined to try increasing fats especially with my previous leg probs.

Thankyou so much for reminding me..

Omg!!!

We've just each had haddock, 4 waitrose pimento stuffed olives with 1/4 avocado, lettuce, rocket, red onion, cherry tomatos, cucumber drizzled with olive oil.

Got to say it was the best salad ever.. It was absolutely fabulous. Had to cut olives in to halves.. Had one whole by itself whilst preparing dinner and it was an acquired taste.....but the salad was fantastic and we can both still taste the fabulous nutty, sweet, bitter taste. To die for. Can't wait till the same tomorrow. Fabulous.....can't have olives or avocado by themselves yet... Also got pimento olives with machengo to try as well.

Thank you @azure for the advice on avocado and the olives...absolute best salad ever...

You're welcome :)

That salad sounds absolutely delicious!

@azure thankyou.. Today was day two and the salad was so tasty again to be honest. Taste buds adapted..hope the 2nd carton of olives going to be just as easy to adapt too.
I can't bear the thought of olives from jars yet though, so will keep persevering with these ones for the future.
Not yet raving about avocado or olives but give it time. I will be raving if my results come down!

Found the milled linseed in our Lidl yesterday, we are a small town not a city so seems to be permeating the country. What are you doing with your avocados then? Any good recipes?

Milled linseed becomg much more popular it appears. Our shelves were 1/2 emoty. Pity they stuck the oacks in the top shelf though. Was lucky that I saw them.

@donnellysdogs, I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I first low carbed, my trigs still good but not as good as before and my ldl levels higher.
Not got time to read whole thread but wanted to say I was similarly worried, so what I did was to keep all my fats healthy, fish, avocadoes, nuts, olive oil etc., too nervous to try coconut oil! I also take sterols in tablet form from boots to avoid the carbs in the sterol drinks.
My fats went down from too high to normal, still not as good as before I low carbed but good.
Trouble is my diet before I became prediabetic was the low fat high fibre diet for years so my lipids were excellent then, also I had a lifetime of dieting to keep my weight stable.. The problem I have now is eating enough to maintain my weight. Nuts are my friend!!

If my maths is right the H&B offer still works out more expensive than Aldi's Milled Linseed.

Not too sure of the price difference Vit90, just that I was in H & B stocking up on my green tea and seen the offer on. Aldi and Lidl are cheap for seeds in my own experience, much cheaper than the other big name food stores.

Good to hear from you. I have healthspan sterols but to be honest they haven't done a thing to help against this rise!! Taken them for years, so has hubby but both our results this time have proved ineffective...

I lost 2lb since in last two days and I really do not want to. I already eat walnuts and don't want anymore. So today I've had a piece of olive oil ciabatta bread toasted and dipped in more olive oil.

The avocado was lovely spread on the toast as well.

Apparently my DSN has a breakdown of my lipids so I'm going to see her. When I spoke to her by phone Today I told her I was eating avocado's and olives she wasn't too pleased... Saying they are fat.... So I explained they were good fats...(!) she actually told me I had taught her something!!

My GP said he hasn't read Bernstein. In fairness he didn't say a single negative thing about LCHF and is highly supportive.
