The LBGTQs have come out from the closet where they hid themselves for many years. Those with diabetes have been hidden under the stairs by society as the 'parental' authority. We are looked at and talked to by many people including those in the medical profession as if we have caused this disease to ourselves and we could have prevented it ourslves. It's time we came out from under the stairs (certainly in Canada where I live) and started to talk openly and without embarassment about our condition and the pain and suffering that can be caused. My last specialist said "I cannot do anything more for you. You are on your own." That is how society and the medical profession want us to feel. This forum is great for us to speak to others in a similar situation but it's time we grabbed attention in other media as well. I think there are more of us than LBGTQs so it's time society, the medical profession and the big drug companies started to listen to us.
