Ozempic

Hey I have been prescribed it. There is some really good research into it and how it can support weight loss.

I'm on the once a week injection and at first I wasn't a fan because ugh needles, but it's not that bad or hard to administer, really easy!

Last I spoke with docs they mentioned there is a shortage of ozempic so they sometimes prescribe the pill form instead of the injection, which are you on?

Hi. Was just wondering if anyone has been prescribed / used ozempic to help with weight loss
It was designed to be a diabetic drug but has the great effect of lowering hba1c levels for those who do struggle with BG levels along with the added benefit of BG levels, the knock on effect of also dietary changes can and I stress can, some dont, lose weight.
But since I have been on this forum, the drug will help however.......
You still need to eat less carbs.
Eat smaller portons.
Exercise more if possible.
Have an understanding of how hyperglycaemia and insulin resistance, has a hearing on your health.

It is not a magic diet pills or injection.
The shortage is causing problems with the prescription needs for quite a number of patients who would benefit from it! It is the market demands and pharmacy companies trying to make profit from the media output over the drug!.

Hi, I use ozempic have been on it about a year. It was prescribed for diabetes but I have lost over a stone in weight. With the 1gm I’ve had quite a bit of nausea and feeling unwell so I’m currently on 0.5mg.

I understand that while Ozempic and similar do produce weight loss, there is concern (see the Japanese study below) that this loss includes lean muscle and bone as well as fat.

Ida S, Kaneko R, Imataka K, Okubo K, Shirakura Y, Azuma K, Fujiwara R, Murata K. Effects of Antidiabetic Drugs on Muscle Mass in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Curr Diabetes Rev. 2021;17(3):293-303. doi: 10.2174/1573399816666200705210006. PMID: 32628589.

The other thing to remember is that once the injections stop, the effect stops, so if eating patterns haven't changed the weight gain will probably recur, and may mean more fat gain than was originally there.
