Has anyone tried a pancreatic enzyme supplement to aid digestion?

never heard of it. Info?
Pancreatic enzyme supplements are pharmaceutical agents given to replace some of the function of the pancreas in patients who have impaired pancreatic function. They contain enzymes including lipase, protease, and amylase. The supplement is given as pills taken with meals in order to aid in the digestion of the food eaten at that time.

The pancreas has two functions, digestive ie it releases enzymes that breakdown foods and blood glucose regulation. T1 involves destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas affecting the endocrine function (blood glucose regulation) rather than the exocrine function (digestive) http://pathology.jhu.edu/pancreas/basicoverview3.php?area=ba So for most of us digestion works fine (unless it has been slowed by neuropathy but that's a different issue)

There are people on here who may have to take pancreatic enzymes because they have lost or damaged a significant proportion of the pancreas (see type3c diabetes section.).

Liquorice and aniseed (especially the tracer I have to drink in hospital before a CT scan - yuk!)
Hi Petepontiac,

I need to take Creon (enzyme replacement) with all food (even snacks) as I'm a T3c being treated as a T1. My pancreas is dead or dying, so doesn't produce the enzymes to digest food.

I don't have problems with Creon.

There's some basic info here: https://www.creon.com/CFPatients/FAQs

Is there anything else you want to know?
