Regretfully it is what it is and the fact that an indifferent diet resulted in an HbA1c of 44 is a timely reminder to do something about it.hi my last blood test showed pre-dietetic reading of 44
The doc suggested I used the Newcastle diet to lose some weight I am 6ft 3 and 14st13
Self admission my diet had been poor in 3 months leading up to test and I had been v stressed with sleep pattern all over.
Surely with the test only looking at last 3 months the timing of the test could give everyone a pre dibetic reading at certain times of year I.e Xmas or holidays
Yes and no. A person with a truly normal reaction to carbs might see a big rise after eating a high carb meal, but then the level of carbs would fall back to normal by eg 2 hours. As the A1c test you had is an average of roughly the past 3 months (albeit with a bias towards the more recent weeks), a person whose bg only rose briefly after meals would not get a high A1c score. That is not to say that there are not many many people who suppose themselves to be "normal" who are actually raising their bgs too much and too often for health. But just because many other people are eating themselves into big trouble, is no reason for you to do the same now you, fortunately, understand that you have a problem.Surely with the test only looking at last 3 months the timing of the test could give everyone a pre dibetic reading at certain times of year I.e Xmas or holidays
I have started the Newcastle diet as a recommendation from doctor this should get me back on the right path and I will maintain afterwards
