Protein load spiking BM's

Hi,
I'm a type 1 on a pump and CGMS and have recently changed to a low-ish carb diet (70-100g). The main problem I'm finding (other than sometimes being more grumpy) is that protein spikes my BMs up so even if my meal is carb free I'm having to bolus for "carbs" to prevent high's after meals. I don't think this is a basal problem because if I don't eat my BM is stable/low so don't think it's a problem at that time of the day. The issue for blousing for non-carbs is my carb counting doesn't account for these.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice?
Many thanks,
Jess

Yes, I'm low-carb and have to bolus for protein - something like 50-60% of protein breaks down into glucose (but more slowly than carbs)
