Hello,

I was swapped from Metformin to Forxiga to help with my Glomular filteration rate as it’s stable but low for my age.

However I’ve had thrush since November. I drink lots (as I have ADHD & need to for my meds) I’m afraid I can’t abide continually treating thrush .

My question is what other meds can I go on as they said my HBA1C was too low for GLP- 1 injections.

I’m really upset about this.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Gosh. Thrush since November can't be any fun!

Is it fair to assume you have received and are receiving treatment for it? If you are sexually active, your partner should be treated too, else there'll just be potential for thrush ping-pong.

I’m puzzled by this as I started on Victoza in Jan ‘23 then switched to Rybelsus in Jan ‘24 (both GLP-1 meds), all through these times my HbA1c has been in the 30s. What do they consider too low and why I wonder?

Yes I’ve been treated multiple times, my hubby once & weve effectively stalled our sex life since we both got treated. It actually is awful.

Yup I did wander as it’s 40 and according to guidelines I’ve read as an ethnic minority with type 2, I should be allowed it on a lower threshold. I saw a DN I don’t usually see. She admitted it was silly. I was asking here as I intend on speaking to a dr or my usual DN.

In your shoes, I'd be asking for a prolonged treatment plan for both of you. If that didn't fix it, a referral to someone who might have better ideas.

There are over 400 combinations of oral medications for diabetes (combinations of meds, not individual meds), so there should be alternatives - even if it is to try another drug in that class. If necessary speak with your nephrologist if you see one.

Living with perpetual thrush can't be doing you any favours.
