Regular moderate exercise log

I have a lie-in on days I'm not exercising first thing. And there's an extra cuppa on the cards as well. Both of those things feel extra special because I feel I've earned them!

:angelic:

Quite right too. I think you definitely have earned them, doing a 5k run with the running club - twice ! You have every reason to be well chuffed with yourself :)

BTW Ruth can I just take this opportunity to thank you for this thread you started. I find it really encouraging and motivating!

:happy::happy::happy:

Did you see my comment in my first post about how my own exercise goes in "fits and starts"? It did, didn't it? I disappeared for several months! In fact, in those months I did do a fair bit that I didn't log, including running and weights, but then I tailed off because i had a busy work period, and I live in Turkey and it was just so darn hot. But my control started to get worse so I'm back again!

@RuthW keep up the good work! And this is my favourite thread on the forum.

Did Parkrun this morning - 31.03 minutes - a new PB! This is the second time I've done my local run, and the third time overall, and it was such good fun. Everyone is so lovely and friendly and supportive.

Struggled with my sugars though - programmed my pump to give me 50% of my breakfast bolus, which is what I normally do before exercise - but there was a long time gap between porridge and Parkrun..... so I ended up too high, as I sort of mistimed the spike. Wasn't all that comfortable starting a run when I was so high, but I didn't dare correct with more insulin just in case.

Happily I ran the spike down, so that's okay. But next week I will adopt a different strategy!

:)

More housework today. I spent an hour cleaning steps, the outside steps, which were encrusted with figs that had dropped off the neighbour's tree since last week. So that involved scraping, sweeping, then (I'm not exaggerating) about fifteen buckets of water filled, lifted out of the bath, carried to the steps, tipped, mopped, etc. So, that was the equivalent of a good weights session.
I also did the accidental spike but I actually fell by an incredible 8mmol in the hour I was working and the following hour sitting down recovering. So I'm not so bothered by the fact I spiked.

Had wanted to swim today but have had a lie in and a lazy start instead - it's been a really tiring week, and it's so lovely to have a lazy Sunday on the cards.

Shall be pottering this morning although grudgingly wearing my domestic goddess hat, then a late lunch followed by ironing and watching the tennis, simultaneously.

It had better be a five-setter, as there is a LOT of ironing......!

Does that count as exercise enough? Or, on the flip side, it might even be mildly tooooo energetic to be a rest day - LOL!

Happy Sunday, all!

:)

I have been away for a few days - last night at this time I was eating a Chinese meal in Liverpool's China Town ...

I have however, been walking about 15k steps each day I was there ... Looking forward to my aquacise on Thursday night and if I am not working on Tuesday, will nip in for a stint at the gym and use the pool .... (work tomorrow :(

I had an unintentional rest day yesterday! Apart from a quick half an hour doing battle with an overgrown shrub in one corner of the garden, I didn't set foot out of the house.

Today, I'd been planning to watch the tennis and get back to walking tomorrow, but decided to go on the group walk from church after all. (I'd announced loudly and clearly I had absolutely no intention of doing anything other than watch the tennis if a certain Mr Murray made the final again.)

Last year, I'd've really, really struggled to do this walk, especially the stiles..

This year... I was getting frustrated at the stop-start nature of it, and secretly relieved when the second half became just the half of the group who were clearly wanting a decent walk. And the stiles were a doddle.

I walked a lot today. About 7000 steps (estimate because I didn't have my phone on me much of the time).

I am excited! I have new toy for counting my steps. Now off for a walk to test it now I've set it up...

I'll give it a thorough test tomorrow, and I've adjusted the stride length slightly, but against the cheap mechanical one I've been using on loan from Kind Colleague and Google Maps, it's performed well on a regular walk I do. It is also silent and can live in my pocket.

Very active day working yesterday but no formal exercise. Went to the Monday morning session of the running club this week - the route was nearly 7km but I didn't manage the hills, and did a couple of walk/run stints on the way back to base. It was brilliant, though. There is talk of a 10k in April - this is what happens when you start posting on this thread in all innocence, and then it's all just too darned motivating.......... ;):joyful:

30 length swim this morning - very soothing.

Have a fab Wednesday, all!

:)

Went to the gym this morning, did a stint on the cycle and one on the treadmill. Tried some machines for top body workout - but sort of gave up - but tonight its Aquacise .... I do admit to having been so tired I had a nap this afternoon.

I am sure I will feel better on my return later this evening :)

Note to self: Win lottery and buy a house with large swimming pool and sports room (hire trainer)
